How?

Big difference between a primary and general where you have to appeal to more than just your base

Paxton is an infinitely better candidate than Talarico

If you are the Republican in Texas and you’re not favored at this point, I don’t think you can be considered the better candidate.

Even though I think Paxton is still going to win (my guess is by 1-2%), I think the concern is that Talarico has people who are actually excited to vote for him. Right now, there isn’t anybody actually excited to go vote for Paxton, just against Talarico.

Kind of the opposite of 2016&2024 when a lot of people held their nose to vote against Trump, but the Republicans were actually excited about him.

Texans. Why would it be anyone else if they let a guy like Talarico win?

this right here.

Paxton

i don't blame somebody for seeing a vulnerable seat and running.

I wouldn't have voted for Cornyn (unless he took Paxton up on getting SAVE act passed and conceding)

John Cornyn, had he got over his sulking and endorsed Paxton, Paxton could have won. His pissy attitude told his supporters to stay home.

If Paxton is "trash" and he beat Cornyn by 28 in the primary, what does that make John?

Why do so many of you have such a difficult time understanding the difference between a Republican primary (where only Republicans vote) and a general election (where Democrats and Independents also vote)? They are not even close to the same thing.

Exactly how Trumps pissy attitude in 2020 cost both Georgia Republican Senate candidates the election. Though he actually said to voters you might as well stay home.

Cornyn should have coasted to the win here but got slapped by DJT and lost
Nope. Trump didn’t endorse Paxton until the last minute, and only after it was obvious he was going to win the runoff.

If Cornyn had been ahead, Trump would have endorsed him.
