What will it take for us to deal with the national debt?

Interest rates rising. Pretty much every politician is only promising things that increase the debt. No one seriously proposing sufficient cuts or revenue to make any meaningful impact. How long can this go on?
I suppose a long time. Voters have no stomach for dealing with it, and the politicians won’t go out on a limb.

We never will.

Collapse? There is ZERO appetite form voters to make the spending cuts necessary to put a dent in the deficit, muchless the debt.

Nothing will pay it off. That’s an incomprehensible amount of money.

I think a wave of crushing hyperinflation should do it.
Oh, did you want an answer that isn't extremely painful?
That's tougher.

This country at some point is going to experience extreme hardship. History is filled with civilizations that collapse on its own weight.
Even though we are technologically and scientifically advanced, to think that we are beyond the fallacies of human nature in itself is an indicator of our eventual demise as a society.

Need someone like this, but our retarded voters aren't ready for that kind of absolute unit.
ETA; This just happened; Milei introduced the "fiscal shackle" law.
If the government runs a deficit and politicians don't fix it, the entire congress and top government officials will stop receiving their salaries.
BTW, not only are his policies working great, he's proven just how politically viable it is.

It won't happen. I'll move into my missile silo apartment.

We need to start using common sense again. We need to prevent insurance companies and frivolous lawsuits from draining our revenue. We need to set expectations for government employees, and eliminate positions that are not needed. It's really not difficult. But, with all of the diversity forced into the system, there is no cohesion amongst employees or agencies. People do not work together towards a common goal.

It's too big to be dealt with realistically. I say this because it would require massive cuts to social services, government employment, military, etc... waaaaaaaaaaay too many grifters involved.

A Revolution.
Literally.
What Trump’s 2nd term has taught us is that there is no putting the genie back in the bottle as there is more corruption, fraud, and rot than we can imagine. The people responsible for eliminating and resolving that are the ones committing it. They will not self police.
So what is the play? We will never “vote” our way out of it.
We gave a full mandate plus own the house and the Senate and we are seeing daily that we are completely compromised by pieces of shite.
They do not fear the people and why would they?
A Revolution is the only answer and we are literally decades away from that happening IF and only IF it gets bad enough.

Get rid of entitlement programs.
Stop investing in untraceable programs: cia, pentagon, usaid… etc.

I don't use the term entitlement programs because social security is not an entitlement (i.e. free shiite) IF YOU HAVE PAID INTO THE SYSTEM - however, until there is reform of the social security system (to eliminate freeloaders) and other give away programs, you are not going to make a dent in the national debt - these programs make up 60-70% of the federal fiscal yearly budget - since neither party is willing to scare seniors, neither party will even come close to mentioning social security reform

And this is part of the problem. Social security has to be on the table. Along with all the other welfare programs.
It’s both fair and simply a reality that we can’t get solvent without cuts to these programs

When he opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, 'Come!' And I looked, and behold, a black horse! And its rider had a pair of scales in his hand. And I heard what seemed to be a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, 'A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius, and do not harm the oil and wine!'"
that's hyperinflation if you are wondering. It's coming to the whole world and nothing anyone can do to stop it. you can avoid it, but you can't stop it.
