re: JFK assassinated. How many remember the when/where/how they heard it?
Posted by Tridentds on 11/12/25 at 6:44 am to duckblind56
Wasn’t alive but do have a story. My grandfather was a Texas democrat and a mayor. He and my grandmother went to Dallas for the Kennedy luncheon talk.
Once Kennedy motorcade finished up just past the square he was heading over to speak. They were waiting for the president arrive and started hearing rumors. They finally left after rumors were confirmed.
Everyone at that luncheon received about a16” very detailed bronze bust of President Kennedy and a record album made up of 4 records. They were all “radios greatest moments and breaking news”. The Hindenburg disaster broadcast, FDR speech about Pearl Harbor & declaration of war, Bobby Thompson home run, etc.,, as a kid I listened to it dozens of times.
Bronze bust was on display in living room until they both died. Now in the attic at my uncles house.

What a great post OP. Nice.

Never criticized Texas schedule last year. All a team can do is play who is on the schedule. It all shakes out by the end of the year.

Interesting parallel. aTm paid a much bigger buyout,
Paid it, it was in the news cycle for about 3- 4 days, but it was clean. Texas A&M lived up to its end of the guarantee.
No whining about a settlement. No contrived morality clause bullshite for cause. Just paid and moved the frick on.
Don’t forget governor involved.
And.,,
Their pets heads are falling off!

I can tell you one thing... everyone involved better be clean. You can't pick and choose who gets fired and who doesn't based on some morality clause that is only enforced when you want to enforce it. How long has this been going on? Last year... why not fire for cause then?
Most likely this is an overall losing proposition. Really can't understand the LSU position at this point.

and.... Texas A&M would have played no role in that.

It’s been 89 years.., etc
There will be 200K Aggies trying to buy tickets.
There will be 200K Aggies trying to buy tickets.
Most likely we will fire the coach, assistant coaches, the AD, and create so much turmoil that the governor will feel he needs to weigh in publicly.
Then we will refuse to pay the coach the guaranteed amount of his contract while claiming money doesn't matter.
What you got in mind??

Are you basing this off something you read? Since you didn't go there and all.
He's right. The bars largely empty out on Friday night and tens of thousands of students are walking across campus. It's actually a lot of fun. Yep...jokes are old and corny but who cares?
2nd, 3rd, and 4th generation Ags have their families with them. Kids love it.
We can't all be out stealing from kids hospitals or dodging bullets in Baton Rouge... some of us like this stuff more.

I just heard that Auburn has made a monumental change. The new Auburn Battle Cry is "War Diego"!
You probably wasted an entire week trying to think up something witty/funny.
What a waste of time.

My post last week.
my post before LSU game
my post before Arkansas game
my post before the Florida game
But you go ahead and make a blanket statement about all Aggie fans when it is really only about 3 or 4 on this board that do that shite.

Ole Miss- inexplicable play calls by Kiffin but they still win big

Ags defense has all kinds of advantages over an LSU offense that is not physical at all.
I like our offense vs LSU.
Our offense will move and score. Their secondary is their defensive strength but they aren’t elite by any stretch. No reason why we don’t score in the 30s unless we shoot ourselves in the foot often.
my post before Arkansas game
quote:
Yep, I think we win. We should rush for 250+. I like the Hogs offense but they make mistakes and turn it over. We also make mistakes but they typically just kill a drive.
I like the matchup TBH. Ags in high 30s lower 40s. Hogs about 10-12 points behind.
my post before the Florida game
quote:
We are very inconsistent on offense. Rack up a bunch of rushing yards but can’t get 1-2 yards rushing deep in the red zone and we are penalty prone at times.
Haven’t really connected on deep balls with open receivers. Lots of shite to clean up. At the moment we look like a top 10-12 team to me.
Honestly think Gators are in trouble this week.

It went right over the heads of the entitled fan bases.....
They are a bit obtuse as clearly evidenced by one of the first replies.
Taylen Green is a handful because he is a great scrambling/running threat. If he is on with his passing they have an explosive offense. He also makes inexplicable mistakes with the ball. hell the entire offense makes some boneheaded mistakes. Complete Jekyll and Hyde. LSU defense is going to give them all kinds of problems and force mistakes
LSU gets 120+ rushing and you guys win. Tiger win this game by 12-15.

ohhh... it's a rivalry game and it is on. Ticket prices reflect this isn't just another game.
FYI... we are about 50/50 in wins/losses in my lifetime. It's our turn. My last trip to Austin was in 2010 on a cold and windy night. Von Miller sealed the win with an interception late in the game.
Going for 2 in a row in Austin.

Why leave for a total rebuild situation?
Ego. Most great coaches have one and think they can replicate success anywhere they go.
I think it is 50/50 he stays or goes to Florida. Not sure why anyone with a family would want to move to Baton Rouge with the crime. Nothing to do with LSU and the program. If LSU job was the only one open... then they would replace Florida in my 50/50 stay or goes.
At some point the quality of life of Baton Rouge comes into play.
