People pay $40 for a steak at a restaurant because people pay $40 for a steak at a restaurant
People buy $20 rolls of toilet paper because people pay $20 for rolls of toilet paper
People buy $9 iced coffees from Starbucks because people pay $9 for iced coffees at Starbucks. If you don't want to pay $9 for iced coffee then go to the store and buy a box of Folgers for $5
If people keep buying expensive shite then shite will stay expensive.. it's called supply and demand
Don't want to pay $5 for the real Hamburger Helper? Then buy the fricking Great Value Helper at Walmart for $3
Don't want to pay $4 for a coca-cola then go buy RC cola for a dollar

Just because you can't afford nice expensive shite that you want doesn't mean the economy is doing bad.. it just means you suck at handling your finances or you need to go find a better paying job
If an airline ticket costs $500 for first class then go buy the $200 coach ticket

If you don't want to pay $5 for your organic avocados, then go buy non organic for $3

It appears to me that everybody bitching about things being expensive are the ones who expect all of the expensive luxuries in life to be cheap.

That is a very small, cherry picked sample. I’m in the restaurant industry, while some things have remained steadyish, my overall costs on food products is much higher than it was 2 years ago. Everything costs me more today than it did just 9 months ago.
Paper products don’t get mentioned very often and those prices have risen more than food products.
