Winnie Watkins Says Sam Leavitt Has Stepped Up As A Leader Following The Ole Miss Loss

LSU wide receiver Winnie Watkins spoke to reporters after practice on Tuesday and was asked which players have stepped up as leaders in the locker room following Saturday's 32-24 loss to Ole Miss.

Watkins immediately pointed to quarterback Sam Leavitt, who has taken it upon himself to bring the team together and keep everyone focused on moving forward.

"I'll say definitely, Sam. He's the quarterback. He's our guy, you know. It definitely took a toll on him because, at the end of the day, he's the quarterback, so most of the things are gonna affect him the most.

"So he came in just making sure that he talked to everybody and understood that, like, at the end of the day, we all got to come together. We got to all do our jobs and just basically, you know, doing what he's supposed to, you know, being a leader, being a guy.

"I trust and fully believe in Sam."
