Nope. People don’t get ahead in any economy by doing the same thing everyone else is doing.

The question is how people in a good economy would be doing against the current economy.
The point is that in a truly good economy, that efficiency isn't needed to end up ahead of people in our current economy.
You're comparing the wrong things. You seem confused as to the actual conversation being had.

ETA - and when was a first class ticket ever $500?
I used to fly across the country when I was a kid in the 90s and the tickets from MSY to SEA were $300. In the 90s. Coach.

We can’t discuss reality if it makes a certain team look bad. It’s frustrating. People gaslight each other all day here.

Based on the household income graph, household income is somewhere between 80k & 90k around 2019, say 85k. Let’s give the chart the benefit of the doubt and say it increased from $85k to $90k from 2020 to 2025. That’s a 5.9% increase in household income. Compare that to inflation over that time period.

We are kind of in a stagflation.
No we are not. Nit even close.
Median income is rising faster than inflation
GDP is growing
Unemployment is low

The Macro Reality
Driven by stubborn inflation and the high cost of essentials like groceries and gas
Cite your sources.
Every American I see has thousands of dollars of superfluous goods. SUV and pickup truck on 5-8 year payments. $1800 cell phone. gobs of stainless kitchen appliances so they can say "I have a chefs kitchen". 3000sqft house.
Of course they have credit card debt. They are completley incapable of saying no to anything.
I bet if everybody out there making less than $100k drove a 5yo Camry or Corolla and had a flip phone and a 1800sf house, debt would be half or less of what it is today.
But everybody "needs" an SUV, truck, top level iphone, giant house, etc... and this is what we get. Go watch "benzes and bowties" on facebook and tell me if it doesn't make your skin crawl how many people are trying to sell a 1yo Mercedes, upside down in negative equity for $30-50,000, and go out and finance a $70k car anyways "cuz I need one".
Dummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmbbbbbbbbbbb.

Why do the lazy always revert to the same anecdotal evidence.
Hint - you most likely see that because you hang around those of the same economic standing as you.

What part of all time highs do you not understand? People going out and buying a bunch of shite on a credit card doesn’t mean that the economy is good.

I have seen numerous “help wanted” signs around town. For such a bad economy, there sure are a lot of open jobs to be had. Very odd.

Real Median Income (aka purchasing power) is up about 1% over the past 18 months.

State your economic measure.
The markets are up ~45% in real terms.
Median income is up >1% in real terms.
Real terms = Inflation adjusted.

If we had the exact same numbers and metrics that we have right now and the President was Biden instead of Trump the same posters fawning over this current economy would be telling you the economy is in the dumps. Look no further than all the excuses on here when Biden experienced back-to-back annual stock market gains of over 20% in 2023 and 2024 the usual suspects said it was being eaten up by gasoline prices and grocery prices
Do you see the irony there as it relates to current events?
