Zach Yadegari, 18, who boasts an impressive 4.0 GPA and 34 ACT score, committed to the University of Miami on April 30 after he was rejected from 15 of the 18 schools he applied to, including every Ivy League institution.

“Update: I officially committed to Umiami,” Yadegari wrote to his 45,300 followers on X.

Yadegari, of Roslyn, NY, is a tech developer and has made over $30 million before setting foot on a college campus due to his AI calorie-counting app, Cal AI.

quote:

The program, which launched in 2024, allows users to track their daily calorie intake by snapping photos of their food.

The future Hurricane experienced a turbulent application process despite massive success with his grades and business venture.

In March, Yadegari revealed that he received rejection letters from all eight Ivy League schools plus MIT, Stanford, Washington University, Duke, USC, the University of Virginia, NYU and Vanderbilt.

He dodged a bullet.

ETA: 34 isn’t really something to brag about with an Ivy application.

As a multimillionaire he'll be much happier in Miami vs Boston.

If you start your collage application like this, expect to get declined by the Ivys.

Are these the same Ivies that are now offering remedial math to some of their incoming students?

Honest question: Why is he going to college at all?

He clearly already has the skills to succeed in the AI field.

Unless he wants to learn a completely different discipline (eg, finance), it seems like opportunity cost.

Sounds Persian (Iranian).

That's probably why they rejected him.

Their loss.

Hate to say it, but from that list he should go to Georgia Tech. Excellent school and he could tap into their tech and innovation commercialization programs which help companies move from ideas to the marketplace. Very practical.

They are still maggots though and deserve our derision.

to go along with what he has accomplished already on his resume/application, should be a slam dunk.

I'm gonna guess he isn't all woke, like they want in those schools. It is sickening.

He won’t miss USC. Know someone whose kid applied and didn’t get in there this year. They were relieved their kid didn’t get in, told me it would have cost over $90k a year to send their kid there.

As to why he would want to go to school, the networking value. Stanford would have been his best bet to help his career if he wants to stick with startup / VC

Also doubt the kid has $30m. $30m revenue is not $30m worth, and unless he exited paper net in a startup that sized isn’t worth anything

I was going to mention the same thing. GT > Miami for a lot of reasons

Was thinking the same thing, but I guess he would rather flaunt that millionaire status on South Beach instead of Atlanta
