People get so caught up with the "college student in debt" paradigm they forget college is largely a social event with education sprinkled.

So true. Being rich is something that should you make you want to go to college more. All the fun with less consequential stakes

Dude, if I had $30 million at 18 and was going to go to college anyway, Miami is definitely where I’d do it.

Really? A perfect score is 36. 34 sounds good to me. But yes, I know nothing about Ivy schools.

Depends on the ethnic group the applicant belongs to.

That’s a bummer that he’ll miss out on Jihad rallies during library study sessions.

That is WAY above average for ivy league acceptance.

Is it right in the range. You have to have more than just a good SAT/ACT score to get into Ivy schools.

Creating an App that makes you millions is actually not that big of a deal like it used to be. It is awesome for sure, just not a game changer like it used to be.

Either acceptance is based on the score (in which case he wouldn’t be in the best of the best of the applicants) or it’s based on other external characteristics (in which case he’d be the absolute best of the best among applicants).

The most likely explanation is that he’s not a part of the right minority group.

I think people have a huge misconception of what ivy league schools are vs what they advertise to be.

Ivy school enrollments are almost exclusively comprised of legacy students with terribly mediocre academic records. They hand out As intentionally so they can market stellar undergraduate performance and help their legacy students get in to any post graduate program they want. They are nothing more than diploma mills for the rich.

Legacy students do not need to meet any of the minimum entrance requirements the schools advertise.

Or you can have no score at all. Many of them are test optional, so if your score sucks, you just don’t submit it.

Correct. If you are white or Asian, then you will be rejected.

You can figure out the rest if you are completely honest with yourself.

It's based upon unquantifiable holistic review based upon whatever they need to get 'certain' individuals in at the time.

If you’ve banked $30 million at age 18, you don’t need the Ivy League. UT, Miami or Georgia Tech can educate you all the same.

Or… you could just say screw it all, stay out of the rat race… go fishing every day and keep making apps when you feel like it.

The real UT accepted him, The University of Texas at Austin.

34 is great but on low end for most of the schools.

The 4.0 is low if he was able to get over a 4.0 by taking AP and Honors courses.

Also doubt the kid has $30m. $30m revenue is not $30m worth, and unless he exited paper net in a startup that sized isn’t worth anything

Well, he doesn't have any employee expenses it sounds like. The cost for hosting an app at Azure or AWS would probably not be more than $10K/month (I worked for an ad agency that paid AWS roughly 35K a month for hosting apps and websites that contained a lot of images and video). Not sure of the AI expense. Perhaps his largest cost, or since he is smart, might not be that large at all.

Larger question is...how the hell did that app bring in 30 million in revenue?

If he was queer, ivy League would have rolled out the red carpet for him.

That’s true, but it’s still the 99th percentile in the country. Impressive overall.
