Egypt got really screwed by bogus VAR foul disallowing their 3rd goal

This is what happens when the LHN network goes off air and they can no longer watch replays from 2005 on repeat.

You could start threads on about 8 different dudes, because they all played at a level that just won’t cut it.
It was a collective effort and level that’s below Belgium.

Mexico played stupidly from the aspect that they tried the same formula 50 times in a row. Being a man up should have given them more options. They just didn’t try to score in other ways.
The USA got bullied out there for 85 percent of the game.

As Dempsey and Henry said, there are levels to this. The US is still in the third tier of teams on their best day. We had a chance to jump a tier, but completely blew it. Argentina-France ------ Spain-Brazil-Belgium-Germany-Netherlands-Portugal-Norway-England-Morocco ------ US-Mexico-Canada-Japan-Egypt-Senegal
This is true. There are different levels, and that is not in question.
But the infuriating part is that Mexico played like their hair was on fire. USA played like they shite their pants.
re: Path to Success is Exclusive Academies not a Million Fields

Every MLS team has academies, so there are over 20 in this country.
Maybe the MLS led academies aren’t very good. They all have different leadership and different ideas.
We need a massive US Soccer branded academy that combines school with training, more like an IMG but with 100 of them.
Here is what AI said:
Criticism of MLS academies and the U.S. soccer development structure stems from a combination of structural constraints, limited capacity, and restricted competition. Critics frequently point to several interconnected factors:
Closed System & Lack of Incentives: The lack of promotion and relegation means MLS teams have no threat of dropping down, reducing the pressure to constantly scout, develop, and sell top-tier talent for survival. Furthermore, independent youth clubs outside MLS receive little to no financial compensation when they develop a player who later turns professional.
Limited Capacity: There are disproportionately few academy spots for a country of over 350 million people. With fewer than 30 MLS academies in major cities, vast geographical areas are underserved, forcing many young athletes into the expensive, disjointed "pay-to-play" youth ecosystem.
Tactical & Technical Shortcomings: Observers, including voices on platforms like U.S. Soccer Collective, argue that youth systems often prioritize safe, methodical tactics over risk-taking and individual creativity.Scouting and Roster Bottlenecks: Because roster sizes are limited, early selections are often retained for years due to a "virtuous cycle" of familiarity. This heavily gatekeeps entry to the sport, making it notoriously difficult for highly talented players who do not enter the MLS academy system early to break through.
There is no explaining it… Other than nerves short-circuiting his brain.
He’ll probably take a HC position in Europe so he can work with players that don’t piss down their legs.

Can Spain make simple passes without completely spazzing out? Can Spain receive and control these simple passes? Does Spain have players that like to shoot the ball or do they just hope to get fouled? Does Spain have a clown as a goalie who likes to come out of the box and then forget to pass the ball? Does Spain have defenders who know how to mark a player? Does Spain play scared? Does Spain know how to execute corner kicks better than the average guy on tRant? Does Spain only pass backwards when you need to put pressure on the other team? Thanks. I’ll hang up and listen.
Spain does all those things. They’ll be favored.
Belgium was far superior to the US (difference between #9 and #17) and didn’t feel any pressure for the last 20 minutes.
But Cape Verde would’ve beat the US tonight.
Belgium is #9 in the world rankings.
They have 8 dudes playing in the top pro league.
They will compete with Spain.

In the Netherlands, for example…
Any kids that show promise in soccer at a young age are moved from local schools and put into academy schools to develop throughout their youth.
It’s a national priority.

It’s not Poch’s fault. The players didn’t show up today.
