Murder is already illegal. Any abortion laws should deal solely with the health of the mother due to pregnancy complications. Or maybe leave healthcare decisions out of courts altogether. If the mother's life is at serious risk due to the pregnancy, any decision should be between her, God, and doctor.

Those are two very different things. Pregnancy affects health by definition, so when they use that word it's because it's not a limit, at all.

If her life is in danger and a choice must be made I don't consider that an abortion any more than I would say they murdered the mother if she told them to save the baby and not worry about her.

There is no need to legally except those instances from abortion laws.

No law or legal principle in any state or the history of the United States would prevent the mother from receiving life saving/preserving or emergency treatment at the expense of the pregnancy.

Don't get me wrong; I find abortion to be every bit as morally repugnant as murdering an already-born human being.

But those are just my personal feelings. I'm realistic enough to recognize that making it a state issue is about the best we're going to do.

States already have abortion laws on the books. Thirty years ago, states aligned much closer to each other in that abortions were limited to the first term. Like everything with the libs, they kept pushing the envelope and allowing later and later abortions, to the point you can have one pretty much until birth. How one can say that aborting a child at 30 weeks plus is not murder is insane. Now with states such as Texas and Georgia they scream that its not fair to limit abortions to the first term of pregnancy.

It's retarded to say that it violates a woman's rights. If you don't know you're pregnant at 16 weeks, your stupid.

I don't want to impose MY views. I would however be content with GOD's view, because it comes first. That would be the opposition to murder.

But in reality, it's a State's Rights issue and finally a Justice had the balls to say it. In very far left states, I would imagine some form will be passed, while much of the South will outlaw it.

Roe is a decision that never should have been made. It’s reasoning and analysis is right up there with Japanese internment and dred scott

The actual abortion argument is much more complex.

1. Partial birth abortion- virtual non starter. Only to save the life of the mother … but why not just deliver?

2. First trimester: given the availability of morning after and all other birth control, what is the justification? I’m ok with the fetal heartbeat timing though.

I find it interesting most here say they just want states to decide, yet many on the board in other threads(possibly not the same people) are 100% in favor of Texas and Missouri trying to ban people from going to other states to get an abortion and want it to be illegal in all states.

Don’t get pregnant or get someone pregnant if you don’t want to become a parent. It’s very easy and cheap to not get pregnant these days.

While I personally believe abortion is morally wrong, it should left up to the states to decide.

In other words, do you simply believe that it is a federalism issue, with each state to chart its own course? Or do you want to impose your views nationwide?

I want SCOTUS to get out of the business of creating national law. Let the states deal with itself.

Yes I hope gay marriage is next, though I know the push won't be as strong as abortion had.

I don't care what adults do with each other in private, but equating gay marriage to hetero marriage is ridiculous. I would love for a state to create a law that promotes the importance of hetero/Biblical marriage and parenthood. Perhaps with some kind of incentives. One of the things I would be on the same page as Putin. Its what would help this nation grow naturally, instead of having to let illegal aliens in droves to make up for low birth rates.

My biggest issue with the gay marriage SCOTUS decision though is how it literally gave the "vote of the people" the middle finger. This was truly hurtful to Democracy, as States run more like a Democracy, not the Federal Govt. Then SCOTUS wipes its arse with States Rights, and pushed it across the land. We need to stop having loony states like CA, NY and IL push their garbage on the rest of us.

It's not in reality a states' rights issue. It's a moral issue in stark black and white. You can choose collectively or individually to ignore the morality, but it's still there.

This and pull all federal $$$ from PP. If states want to kill babies, they can fund it internally.

You really are an idiot. We oppose Roe, but really, really deep down, we just want the federal government to impose our morality on everyone else. Get a life, Goober.

I think the abortion issue, exactly like slavery, should be decidedly illegal everywhere. Science has shown the baby feels pain, life begins at conception and even the weakest among us deserve protection.

I think sending the issue to the states is a good start but not a finish.

I don’t believe the federal government should force every state to have legal abortion, and the 10th amendment says they shouldn’t be able to.

If the elected representatives in any states vote for legal abortion because their constituents want it, so be it. I believe it’s murder, but I understand others have made that a gray area.

Morally: amendment because it's a eugenicist evil on par with or worse than slavery.

Legally: overturn roe and finally resuscitate the 10th Amendment.
