BS, I bet you are happy OM is playing Chambliss. Dude is getting a 6th year to play, these guys are getting a 5th year. You clutch your pearls only when someone else does exactly what OM already did.
re: Are you guys really okay winning a Natty with ex NFL players and a roster that costs $50M?
Posted by Tigers0918 on 8/23/26 at 5:06 pm to John Rambeaux
hell yeah I am. When our week 3 opponent has a OM grad and booster judge give their star QB a 6th year of eligibility, why stop a player from playing a 5th year?

Pretty impressive how Lane orchestrated these legal shenanigans in a Louisiana state court to get players who have been paid and on an NFL roster to LSU.
not too different from OM getting an OM booster judge to give their star QB a 6th year of eligibility for having a cold.

LSU completely shut down the Heisman trophy winner. What makes anyone thing it would have happened differently vs SC?
because everyone likes to hate on LSU. Probably also plenty of people here who were too young to even watch games back then. So they are probably thinking USC from 04 and 05. The 03 USC team was nowhere near as good as the 04 team.
LSU wins that game, no doubt in my mind. That USC team played a very easy schedule that year.

Yep, but when an OM graduate gets to give their star QB an extra year for no reason, we should be able to get something too. It is all dumb.

Well, if he truly believes that, he can make a shite ton of money betting on clemson week one.
I'm sure he won't though

re: What would you do if you're the one making a decision regarding the JD situation?
Posted by Tigers0918 on 8/16/26 at 8:51 pm to SouthernInsanity
Give out #9 to somebody next year and just move on from retiring numbers like the policy states. This half retired thing is just dumb. Just put all numbers in circulation. Hell, I'd put #20 back in as well, just honor the players but keep the numbers on the field.
Put up some statues of every Heisman winner outside the stadium.

do you even understand how IQ is measured and what a 102 means from 1939 and 2022 and why that could be the dumbest possible argument. On top of that, you are just pointing out that it was only for the elite 100 years ago.

if only we had a direct quote from JD representatives about what this is about instead of hearing about rumors from someone on the internet.

Serious question for anyone.
Other than having an R next to his name, is there anything anyone likes about Paxton? He is probably the most corrupt person ever to run for state office in Texas(at least on a major ticket). He was impeached by his own party, stole money from people, indicted for a felony before pleading.

Preseason polls are a mixture of what you did last year and what they expect this year.
LSU is very high in one and very low in the other which is why so many will play it "safe" and rank LSU 10-15th

re: Can LSU's Dreams Come True? What If LSU Big Donors Contribute $100 Million for 10% Income?
Posted by Tigers0918 on 8/4/26 at 9:41 am to Salviati
ok, if big time donors now get a piece of LSU athletics for their donations. Why would they give to LSU in the future without getting more equity ever again?

Not always true. Also, “private equity” is extremely vague in this context. The top donors in the network were invited to the governor’s mansion. They weren’t invited for there to be an announcement that some random PE firm came in. My guess is TAF is becoming a PE firm with the financial backing of major donors. Makes WAY more sense than some PE firm coming in and “buying” LSU athletics.
If it is major donors doing this, does that basically mean they will only now give money to LSU through a PE deal from now on?

Why? I'm just playing devil's advocate here, not directly attacking you btw.
If you sell to private equity, they want a return on their money. They are only buying a piece because they believe that 10% of LSU athletics is worth more than what you are selling it to them for.
So either big changes are made that hurt the fans(get more money), or you sold off a piece that PE makes more money off of which you could have just had if you didn't sell it. Is LSU in dire need of a cash influx right now? If not, then you don't sell off your future for money now.
Phil Steel preseason SEC rankings, not a believer in LSU at all.
Posted by Tigers0918 on 8/2/26 at 2:08 pm
Based on his rankings, he expects LSU to lose 5ish games.
https://www.on3.com/news/phil-steele-releases-2026-preseason-poll-ranking-all-college-football-teams-1-to-138/
Saw his SEC rankings and he has LSU tied with Tenn for 7th in the SEC and #21 overall. Based on his rankings, he has us losing to UT, OM, aTm, Bama, and Tenn and only being barely ranked above Clemson(#24).
Seems really low on the tigers hearing him talk. Time to prove him wrong.

You don't see a difference for breach of contract for getting back part of when you have paid already and a contract where nothing was paid yet and was still done during the transfer portal window?
I don't know if they will fight it all the way, but I'd be very interested in how this would turn out in an unbiased court(not MS or LA) but that isn't going to happen.
They could just as easily argue they signed under pressure since they signed before their season had ended and they could argue they felt they would lose playing time if they didn't sign.
It is not nearly as cut and dry as you make it seem.

My understanding is the NCAA bylaws count the money promised to them in the rev share deal against the “cap” regardless. The damages are a couple of things.
1. Having their pay count against the cap without them playing
2. Having to replace them with a portal that was either closed or closing
3. Loss of opportunity type damages, like anyone we could have brought in we chose not to
I don't doubt it was a legal contract, and I could be entirely wrong, but I don't see a court siding with OM here. I think a half million dollar penalty for breach of contract just 10 days into it while the portal was still open and no payments were made at all will be deemed excessive.
Do courts lower the penalty? Do they throw it all out since it was excessive? Who knows, but I don't expect the full penalty to hold as I think most people would look at it as excessive.
I can't imagine any employer giving a contract to someone and then asking them to pay the company half a million dollars if they leave in the first 3 months(without any payments too).

No, the problem is even the biggest trump supporters admit Trump just says stuff without a filter and makes stuff up all the time.
Well, when that is all you do, people who support him will cling to things like today and say this is the time he is telling the truth and you should believe him. Everyone who doesn't like him won't even bother to watch because we just assume it is more lies.

A lot of construction workers that I've known through the years like the early start and early off. Pretty common for construction workers to begin work at 7AM and they're off by 3:30-4PM.
Then they can just work 8AM - 4:30/5PM and it is the exact same thing. If your job is dependent on the sun, then those jobs should just shift hours in the winter to be aligned with the sun. Sounds like an easy solution to me.

The SCOTUS could read the Congressional Record to discern the likely Legislative Intent when the Amendment was drafted.
So now the right wants to go into intent of the constitution? I don't think you would like that with other amendments. It is amazing that any justice could read the amendment and be on the dissent side of this. A 5 year old could read it and tell you what it means. Doesn't mean I agree with it, but the government can change it with another amendment, that's the only way
