I think the Bushes' attempt to impeach Ken Paxton and its utter failure has ended the Bushes control of the Texas Congress and has soured the Texas population ...

I listened to Ken Paxton's defense attorney and Trump needs this attorney on his team NOW !

His attorney declared the Bushes' control of Texas dead on arrival after Paxton was cleared of impeachment.

I was told that we just had to wait for him to announce he was running and voters would flock to him. His numbers would skyrocket.

Now I wait for them to reply to this post pretending they still have a clue.

They will say it's because the indictments boosted Trump which is true.

But why didn't DeSantis see this coming a mile away? Any casual observer could see it.

He should be sitting on the sideline like a 800lb gorilla for 2028, still a young man in his 40s.

In January I said his time on the national stage would be brief if he ran against Trump. I was correct. It was just stupid.

He listened to some of the most out of touch people in politics, neverTrump morons.

Trump is a polarizing figure. Even for 50% of Republicans that aren't the hardcore MAGA base.

Many of them were initially willing to see DeSantis as a viable alternative. Now, over time, people have rethought the situation, we have the Biden regime going after Trump hard, and DeSantis has been unable to get ANY traction in his campaign, so people are slowly coalescing around Trump again.

I said this situation would occur a month before DeSantis announced.

Correct.

DeSantis has made a number of errors. Deciding to run wasn’t one of them. Thinking Republican voters would be persuaded by reason was one of them.

I feel zero sympathy for Rob and his disastrous campaign. He should’ve waited and chose to be greedy instead.

He got MAGA’ed

A fair analysis. I don't fault DeSantis for running. He's the most prominent/successful conservative we have, and you can't blame him for thinking that might matter in a Republican primary.

I don't think the failure of his campaign is all (or even mostly) about him. What has he said or done to turn away millions of GumboPots, who a year ago was posting he hoped Trump didn't even run because DeSantis was so much better?

Trump masterfully teed RDS up as some sort of establishment hack. That was masterful not just because it was effective, but also because Trump is more of an establishment stooge than RDS has ever been, yet DT has 30% of his voters believing he's an anti-establishment warrior.

It will be remembered as one of the biggest cautionary tales in American politics. When you’re probably in line to be the next guy, don’t listen to the wrong people.

It really sucks because this dude was bigly on his way up. Now he’s forever tainted.

This is part of what David is talking about in the previous post. There’s a narrative formulated that “the Establishment” talked DeSantis into running. There’s zero proof of it.

There's about 9 months till the nomination. That's a long time in politics.
