Iran offered to dilute their uranium in their pre-war offers and we rejected that and started the war. Either the dust leaves Iran and goes to a non-ally of Iran, or it's just smoke and mirrors.
The NYT piece specifically sites the possibility of them diluting the uranium as a possibility.

There is absolutely no chance they will give up the uranium willingly. They have made that crystal clear. Over and over again.

I think we will see a word game between both sides if an agreement is reached.
Practically, Iran degrading the enriched Uranium is the same thing as them turning it over to Russia.

Looks like the Pakistani mediators are doing a double take. Showing Trump one proposal and the Iranians another.
They've done this shite from the beginning.

Yeah, in re-reading the article what I had assumed was a commitment to have the uranium leave Iran was instead a commitment to "give up their stockpile of highly enriched uranium." I guess they could say that diluting it met that condition, but, like I said, they offered the exact same thing before the war and at several points in negotiations during the war. We rejected it every time, so if we suddenly accept it then it will be hard to spin it as a victory.

You can dilute and then enrich it again. That is absolutely worthless.

So we will do all this again in 5 years

I’ve been drinking so I’m sure I’m missing something, but if this is resulting in kicking the can down the road…
I’m officially pissed.
What the frick. This was supposed to be an exercise in NOT kicking the can down the road.
Why even bother, outside of the initial killing a bunch of SOBs that needed killing.

How do we know that we are even negotiating with the people that actually have the control and ability to carry through their end of the deal?

This guy says Iran agreed to export the enriched dust to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). That would be fine, but Iran's foreign ministry reiterated this morning that they wouldn't let their uranium leave their country so I'm very skeptical that this will come to pass.

The emerging US-Iran framework, according to a senior official from a mediating country, although the official says the exact mechanisms haven't been defined, and the unfreezing of funds and sanctions relief haven't been agreed: -US, Israel ceasefire in Iran, Lebanon -US lifts blockade (no stipulation on US removing any assets from CENTCOM) -US unfreezes Iranian money, lifts sanctions -Iran gradual reopening of the Strait -Iran uranium enrichment freeze. 10-20 years. (Number not yet agreed. No stipulation on what Iran is or is not allowed to do after the timeframe) -Export HEU. No final decision yet, but Iran has suggested to the IAEA. -IAEA access to nuclear sites -Iran pledges not to operate underground nuclear facilities

Trash. What a fricking waste. Can only hope Israel finishes the job.

The only thing that could make this make any sense is if those recent earthquakes in Iran were successful bomb tests.
Scientists can differentiate between underground bomb tests and earthquakes with better than 99% accuracy. Safe to take this off the table.

No we won’t. This was it. We had our shot to end these guys.
I was upset earlier. Now I’m apathetic. No point getting mad about nothing I can change.

What happened to "nothing short of total surrender"?
Posted on 5/23/26 at 9:35 pm to Eldodroptop
This is what happens with amateurs like Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner are in charge of negotiations.

What do you imagine Israel can do to "finish the job"?
Posted on 5/23/26 at 9:41 pm to DiamondDog
Correct
We will never return as the surrounding circumstances will never present, again ---- Gulf States, Hebrew State, No Nothing Europe....Iranian proxies neutralized.
Why is beyond my limited comprehension and I doubt seriously any explanation will be satisfactory
Almost 5 decades of their Imperialistic bloodlust and seemingly DJT blinks....
