Which might have to be supplemented with immigrant labor if it's as successful as people are hoping

Albeit this is at a very local and rural area level but, some of my biggest clients (farmers) have to utilize I9 workers from South Africa, Central America, and Mexico because they kind find reliable help. It’s all completely legit and cost them a chunk of money just to get them over here on top of what their wages are (which isn’t cheap. The SAs especially keep in touch with each other while they’re over here and will drag up on an operation in a heartbeat if their buddy tells them Farmer X is paying $Y) but they’re satisfied and the crop gets planted, raised, and harvested. Folks gotta do what they gotta do to get the job done if they can’t find sufficient labor at home.

Now how it works in construction or any industries- I don’t know or have any idea.

Cool. We’ll need those truckers to ship our domestically produced goods across the fruited plain instead of shipping Chinese junk.

What they are really wondering is how they are going to sell misery and despair with millions of jobs and trillions in investments are pouring back into the US.

When a new building is being built… are those not considered construction and trade jobs that build these facilities?

You have to buy the ground, that means people involved in the real estate transaction -- money flows into the economy

You have to get power, water, wastwater, sometimes roads and rail lined up- money flows into the economy

You get the design people working - money flows

You get the materials bought - money flows

You get the facilities built - money flows

You hire workers - money flows

You make and sell a product - money flows

I remember around 20 or so years ago we opened a manufacturing facility in Jackson, MS and man that was a rough area of town we built the facility. It was 150,000 sq ft - we had three shifts working 24-7. I think the overall number of employees we had were around 500

Just two years after we built that facility, several more manufacturing facilities popped up around our building and it turned into a nice industrial park.

In 2-3 years, that entire area of town started booming with new apartments, grocery stores, strip malls, etc

It was amazing to watch that area of town just boom and become a very nice area. I’d like to think that because of us opening a facility there it was the start of making that area of town great again.

This is kind of the vision I think Trump and his team has - to revitalize these towns that have been decimated by sending jobs over seas to China, etc

China isn't poor but the average citizen has a lower standard of living than here in the US

The average citizen make almost as much as the average pay year per year.

They can buy a BYD for 10K.
Xpeng P7.. 28K
Audi Q5 E-Tron for $30K

For a family of four, estimated monthly expenses without rent average around 2,016.1 USD (14,583.5 CNY), while a single person’s estimated monthly costs are approximately 556.8 USD (4,027.2 CNY). These estimates suggest that living in China is notably less expensive than in the United States.

When considering housing, rent in China is substantially lower than in the US, by an average of 71.9%. Aside from housing, daily expenses such as food, transportation, and entertainment also contribute to the overall cost of living.

Electricity.. less than $15 per month
Heating... less than $15
Cooling, Less than $15
12 eggs.. 11.9 yuan or $1.51

China's standard of living has significantly improved in recent decades, with the country now considered an upper-middle-income nation.

I do not believe Trumps goal is to bring all manufacturing back to US. That would not be economically feasible. I believe the aim is to level out the current imbalance so that we are not shipping all our dollar because we know that is not economically feasible either.

What I envision is companies having 20% to 50% of their production domestic and having their raw material diversified and not all out of China. We have to ship US made products out so we have to have a trade policy that creates a market for US made products.

Tell us what you expect to accomplish with this question.

What answer will indicate what we should do going forward?

I’m strictly speaking to how long it takes to get a facility online from green field to maximum manufacturing capacity.
In addition to everything else he’s done he laps the field in that aspect.

Geotechnical Engineers to drill the site and give foundation recommendations. Architects and Engineers for building design and site infrastructure. A multitude of trades for site grading, construction, electrical, sewer, water.

So it does take years but in the meantime people doing the above are earning a paycheck. Beats coding.

Pointing out that massive manufacturing facilities take time to build isn't a liberal talking point. It's pointing out a very obvious fact. And yes a lot of trade jobs are created during the construction. I'm part of teams that build industrial manufacturing facilities so it helps with the job market in my profession. I'm all for building the shite out of as many large scale industrial facilities as possible. No one is against that.

Well, almost no one.

There were 90,000 manufacturers closed from Biden. Even the President of the UAW in Detroit said yesterday there were 35 facilities here empty that could be producing cars in a month. All the Dems crying the sky is falling believe in Build Back Better when nothing was built.
