You're right in certain industries.
Powermatic built the best heavy woodworking machines on the planet in LA Vergne, TN. Now they're all built in Taiwan. I bet they could start production in Tennessee within the year.
If they did, I'd trade my one year old Powermatic PM2000T table saw in gor a Madr in America model.

China isn't poor but the average citizen has a lower standard of living than here in the US

Talk to Elon about how long it takes to build manufacturing facilities.
The facilities that he has built and brought online since 2020 is almost unbelievable.

Sounds like years of steady work for US construction workers and trade contractors

Funny how he didn't need a trade war to do it though

This is what is mind boggling to me. That there are people in our government that are saying that we won’t see any of these jobs for years because it takes a long time to set up manufacturing facilities. In their minds, they are too stupid to realize that these facilities will instantly create jobs.
Their philosophy is that nobody will have a job until the facility is actually up and running producing material. It’s embarrassing that these elected democrat officials are too fricking stupid to understand this
And by the way.. these facilities aren’t located in 5 star suburbs. They are usually located in very rough parts of town because the rent is cheap. It’s HUGE for these communities to finally get these types of businesses coming back to their communities
If there is a Ghetto Town A - that’s poor, crime, drugs, etc and a glass manufacturing facility (for example) opens up in Ghetto Town A - that’s a few hundred good paying jobs for that community that would not be available in Biden’s America
This is going to be so massive for our economy. Yes, it might start off a little bumpy but in the long term, it’s going to be amazing

Which might have to be supplemented with immigrant labor if it's as successful as people are hoping
I have no issue with that but some of MAGA might

Yes you are absolutely correct that construction itself will create thousands of jobs and help the economy. That being said, you’re still just a MAGA Hitler loving, black hating racist. lol

And it will be built primarily by out of town workers because the ghetto doesn't have the skill set to be of much use
Ask me how I know
But that's still good for the local economy. More people spending money in hotels, restaurants, other establishments that is being put into the local economy. And at least some of the locals will be employable in a more meaningful capacity and get a chance to "level up" in class over time.

You mean it’s going to employ people building these for years? Hmmmm
Posted on 4/2/25 at 8:03 pm to FLTech
Absolutely right. Dems are terrified that Trump might unleash the industrial might of America. They know this resonates with blacks, hispanics, and low income whites. The destruction of our manufacturing base is what had hollowed out our great Nation.
In the 1970s, Shreveport had multiple factories that paid good wages. It was a prosperous and nice American city. Today, the urban core looks worse than a bombed out Ukrainian city.
I’m ecstatic at Trump’s plan. This is the change I voted for!

At least the supplemented labor will be legal citizens and vetted for crimes, murder, rape, gang affiliation, etc plus they will be checked for diseases, etc - MAGA should be perfectly fine with this.
Some of the best warehouse workers I have ever hired in my manufacturing days were proud Cubans that became legal American citizens.

They won't be legal citizens but I assume you meant legal migrants

Yes...if people are good productive members of society then we should allow them a path to citizenship. You don't have an issue with that obviously but some of MAGA does.

You’re right. But what I’m wondering is how long people think the tariffs can stay in place. If they were to go away in four years, that’s not good, is it? If I’m leading a business, when do I know it’s smart to invest like that?
