Educate yourself instead parroting MSM and Dem talking points.

Diesel went from $3.60 in Feb 2026 to $5.60 in April 2026.

People will tie that back to the Iran war. Sorry, that is the reality.

You should have thought about all of this back in the GOP primaries, and not elected a carnival barker. There were other candidates, and you had choices. You chose poorly and we all have to pay for that now.

Or Neither and on fixed income
Enjoy the $ now because it seems like that is what a majority of people initially focus on.

My sample size is fairly limited, but my best friend has a 34 year old niece who was laid off in September 2025. Her field is very niche, but it's been a year and she still hasn't found a job in her field. She had to move back in with family and is doing substitute teaching while she still searches for a job. She's making maybe 25% of what she did previously.

Another friend of mine, who is 36, was laid off and it took them 9 months to find a job. They are getting back on their feet now but they had to exhaust most of their savings, including taking a loan on their 401(k).

The general feeling I get is for the 45 and up crowd, they are overall doing pretty well. But the under 45 crowd, especially the 35 and under crowd, is absolutely struggling big time in this economy.

The economy isn’t that bad. Unemployment is low, the stock market is booming. Core inflation (inflation after taking out energy and food) isn’t that bad which has kept the interest rates lower than they otherwise might be based on overall inflation. At the same time inflation is high. The public can’t just deduct their food and energy costs. The amount of time people are spending out of work has increased. Many people are afraid that AI will make them redundant in the next few years. All of which is to say the economy could be a lot worse, and is fine, but people’s experience of it is not encouraging. If we hadn’t attacked Iran and gotten the strait closed, inflation would be low, the interest rates would be low, and Republicans would hold the senate and have had a fighting chance at the House

Stuff is expensive, but the economy is not doom and gloom like the media puts out. We never recovered from covid inflation. Add the war and it's a perfect story for the media to push. Under the covers it is good. We just had 3.4 gdp this quarter.

People complaining about struggling is not really struggling. Struggling now is you won't buy steaks and go on vacation for a week or go get your take out instead of Doordash.

Look at policies. If it wasn't for the war we would be on the right path.

If it was that bad then consumer spending wouldn't be up.

My household income more than doubled during the Biden Admin and we bought our 3rd house. I guess the economy was great then too, huh?

Good question

Inflation is still running over 3% and THAT is a problem. You don't feel it as much because as you said, you got raises. However, for most people, inflation rising faster than wages, so they feel like they can't get caught up.

GDP is rising and unemployment is fairly stable.

There is a reason inflation overthrows governments.

And you think democrats won’t make gas so unaffordable people just go to EVs by default?

Democrats are gonna make gas cheaper???

That's not how politics work in this country and never will be. If you make promises that are not kept (no matter how you try to convince us you did), your side suffers even though the opposition party will likely make it worse.

It’s definitely no worse than it was under Biden but it’s not better either.

It's the compounding. It was very bad under Biden then Trump threw gas on it.

I got a better job this year because a company sought me out. My wife and I bought a house last year and have been handling it well even given the cost increases. We are both right at six figure incomes. I look outside and my life is great. So I guess I am fortunate.

And then we added tarrifs without doing away with income taxes and high gas prices on top of it. Shits expensive out there, baw.

And that’s on the GOP. They fought Trump on every level on this instead of getting on board and passing legislation. This could’ve been a huge advantage to the US generationally. Instead, his own party sabotaged it.

Im doing ok too. Feel bad for anyone who just graduated or is looking for a home. Im not a Democrat by any means but I do believe we have to prepare for the future. You're already starting to see a lot of cracks in the housing market due to a lack of foresight.
