How do so many somewhat “normal-ish” Americans not look at the Democrat Party and…

See it for the total Marxist, freak show for what it is?
So many many normal schleps who drive to work every day, shop at Wal Mart, eat at Applebees, watch NFL on Sunday, etc with fairly normal lives and aren’t demented sexual freaks or welfare sucking leaches or anything like that… yet they turn around and look at the Democrat Party as if it’s Bill Clinton 1994 or Tip O’Neil having a glass of Scotch with Reagan.
They will do everything in their power to flood this country with as much 3rd World trash as possible. If they could import one billion people from every 3rd world country they would and give them all voting rights.
They would be happy to take your kids and castrate them, take away your liberty and force you to get vaccines against your will.
But there will be millions of clueless drones who will vote for some pervert like Talarico because they were butthurt about the cost of gas this week without any further thought about it.

Bro, high gas prices.

Most people aren't following these things closely. They're paying more for food, gas, etc and take it out on the party in power. Its always been this way and always will.

Yeah he frames his question asking about "normal-ish" people and then does the spewing of an emotionally compromised person projecting partisan brain rot
Normal people think people like OP and their views are weird as frick

I believe most do.

As they have shown in the past, plus using the government against political opponents

It could be because they see the Iran war that caused the spike in gas as unecessary.
And it's not like the Republican party is out touting what they've done for the people, the message is even though we've caused you some financial pain, we're not them.

The old guard part of the Democrat party are quietly waiting to see how the midterms go. If Dems do well, the old guard will shift noticeably towards the DSA platform out of self-preservation.
A few months ago, some of the more traditional Dems criticized the DSA as too fringe but that criticism has basically disappeared while the MSM pumps out stories about the impending blue wave.
More traditional Dems will back DSA policies and that will start a death spiral of legislation that will fix things if we only raise taxes a little more, increase government giveaways to non-producers, etc.
Hard to believe the euphoria over the fall of the Berlin Wall has been replaced by a passion to bring back a powerful political class that is designed to make everyone the same level of miserable.

There’s lots of those types in Minnesota.
Trump is too brash and lacks decorum, republicans tend to be comparatively “uneducated” and they don’t want that association, being called racist is essentially a death sentence, and the democrats have historically been pro-union and have cared about worker’s rights.
There you go. There’s your “normalish” Minnesota democrat.

quote:What is the motivation for Democrats to do this? The narrative that a meaningful number of illegals vote just doesn’t even make sense. I live in a blue city and I’m required to show my license which is matched to my voter registration every time I vote.

Plus, democrats are routinely elected and always have been. No one needs to “import” people from other countries and keep their fingers crossed that the imported people will not only be able to vote but will actually go out and do it for a democrat to win an election.

Once again a pot meet kettle moment. He said normal people. Why are you commenting in this thread?

bullshite. Normal people are disgusted by two figs buttfricking each other and sucking each others dicks. Normal people don’t want that fricking goat-sounding “call to prayer” blasting on speakers in their cities. Normal people don’t believe in cross-dressing and genital mutilation to accommodate delusion. Normal people don’t want to relinquish their individuality to a marxist hive. Normal people don’t want English to become a foreign language in the USA.
Now, go suck your wife’s dick, you deviant piece of shite.

Normal people don't think like this
quote:
would be happy to take your kids and castrate them,
Or this
quote:
take away your liberty and force you to get vaccines against your will.
Or this
quote:
butthurt about the cost of gas this week
The only normal thing you wrote, but confused why normal people don't think in your extremes?

These guys playing the tranny card are a lot like the left scaring people that the right is coming for their abortions -- it just gets old after a while. I don't think the cultural issues are that important right now
I do agree the border is important, but that's an executive thing. Talarico and El-Sayed don't have control over it.

What other motivation for being pro open borders is there for the left if not to secure the votes of whoever they let in and/or the votes of their projeny? Do you really think Dems are willing to risk their political power to advocate for flooding the country with millions of illegals for other reasons? Really?

I think far too many look at politics as a team sport, thus they never get beyond the foundational rhetoric of "my team good, your team bad" (with too much spilling over to the fringe aspect of "my team is everything good and just, your team is evil and needs to be exterminated"). This is fed by media pundits (who are mostly on the Left, but for every 7 or 8 Carvilles there's a Hannity) as many of that crowd don't look much beyond the echo chamber they feel most comfortable in.
You can go to Detroit and show people blindly voting Democrat how the proliferation of illegal immigration hurts them, how it is exclusively Democrats who are for the gender mutilation of children, of how nothing is really "free", of how a lightly run marketplace actually lowers prices through lowering bars of entry to new competitors, etc. but they are still going to be more likely to pull that lever for a Democrat candidate solely because of party.
Some will change, but only after they've suffered from the abuses of blind loyalty. Others won't, as witnessed by those who have fled the progressive enclaves on the coasts to the better lives afforded in conservative areas but then continue to vote for the very same types of candidates who passed laws which caused them to move in the first place.
As we learned with the "sheepening" aspect of COVID vaxxers (those who knee-jerk doom-sayed anyone who dared question any of the government-pushed orthodoxy), there are a LOT who fall into that latter group.

The “most people” you’re referring to don’t even know what Marxism is. Few even understand communism. They see the world through a day to day lense and are actually influenced by people on social media. These people could define an influencer better than Marxism.

Do you disagree with my reasoning that shows how silly that claim is?

Exactly

The Democrats' secret sauce is single-issue voters. Their coalition is a collection of separate causes that often contradict each other, but each one matters enough to its own group that together they win elections.

Look if you lack the awareness that Dem politicians across the country have been actively campaigning on what amounts an open border platform then I'm afraid theres no need to continue the discussion. The reasonable explanation that they are is whats coming out of their own mouths. They are literally saying they're gonna round up the millions of illegals Trumps deported and bring them all back. That's open borders +100.

My best guess is most of these people only casually follow politics and world events on a day to day, week to week basis. If many of them even try to “catch up on the news”, they’ll tune into a 5:30pm half-hour national newscast or maybe peruse the headlines on a Yahoo. com, or MSN.com, etc. Many of them may not even do those things and instead get their news through quick bites on X or Tik Tok, etc.
I think most everyone that frequents this board is a political / world events junkie so we all kinda live this stuff because we hold keen interest in these things. I’m not sure how much of the general population shares that level of interest.
Whether that’s a good or bad thing is likely a whole other discussion.
