Ok, Mr Macho Man...let's shoot (assumed) unarmed robbers! Yeah! Next time someone walks in who I don't like, I can shoot him and say I saw him trying to steal a $2 bottle of water and it will be ok.
If he's showing a gun, then by all means, shoot the bastard. But if you don't see one, naw dog, you cannot execute someone for stealing a bottle of water.

Was Mr. Chow or the prosecution there?
That kid spent his whole time in that store acting as guilty as a person could be. Slinking around, pretending interest in multiple things, constantly checking positions, angles of retreat, etc. He had the creation of many more victims on his agenda. His victim count was cut short.
