In the mean time Rick Chow spent 3 years locked up and away from his family and lost his business.
The people defending the kid saying he "put the bottles back", he intended to steal.
People really need to quit making excueses for those who think crime is a normal way of life and not their fault.
Now Chow should not have chased him from the store.
Given the kid lived in walking distance they probably knew he was a grade A thug in the making.
The stupidity of stealing something you can get from a faucet outside makes this a darwin level way to die.

I think "fatigue" plus the prosecutors went too far, plus the jury despised how the judge is a well known anti white racist qunt who had already held Chow in jail for three years.

This was a dad defending his son from being killed.
Not the same as a guy with 20 violent priors being released after attacking innocent people.

The boy went in to the store with no cash, card or phone pay.
He had a loaded gun ready to fire.
He went to the cooler and knew he was being watched by the lady and it looks like he took out a few bottles and put them in his hoodie pockets and put them back.
The lady from where she was standing knew he took things out but couldn`t see all of what he did. So she assumed he was stealing.
He starts to leave and the lady confronts him and he leaves the store.
If he had the gun in his hoodie pocket he may have had it pointed at her when she confronted him when he had his hands in his hoodie pockets.
It may have been that he wanted to bait someone or Mr. Chow to draw a weapon on him so he could shoot them first.
Mr. Chow had numerous other past encounters with other thugs and had even shot one one of them in the leg so people in the community surely hated the store owners.
He may have thought he could be a hero if he baited them and set them up and shot one of them.
