Dems: everyone who works full time should get a living wage. 31 K assuming they work 40 hours a week 52 weeks a year.

Conservatives who think they’re smart: why shouldn’t they make 208k a year HUH?!?

Dems in 4 years: how can people survive on $31k/yr? Have you tried to support a family of 10 on $31k? why do you hate the poor?

The absurdity of a minimum wage is astounding.

It is Monday and my troll meter is malfunctioning.

I really hope this is a troll, as I still have some hope for society but that hope is rapidly diminishing with posts like this.

great point. Send any american, even the toughest hard core survivalist, back 500 years in a time machine and the people there will think he is a pussy. Just got through reading 'Endurance: Shackletons incredible voyage' and even just 100 years ago people were so much more incredibly tougher than anyone is these days. People need to stop bitching so much about every little inconvenience because we have it pretty dam good.

Everyone should have UBI, so kind of, yeah. We're going to see UBI and the 20 hour work week soon. There's no avoiding it.

I think we'll eventually see UBI down the road when more jobs get automated. It might not happen during my working career. The government mooches are going to be disappointed when it's like 1k per month per family.

Because they’re trying to set a minimum wage not make everyone upper class.

Done.

But you knew that right?

Seems to me, that if I currently make 796% more than minimum wage, if they raise minimum wage, they have to raise my pay as well, right? To keep the proportions and all that. It's only fair.

The federal minimum wage should be eliminated. It's a voluntary transaction between a person and a business. I guess you can have one for government jobs if you want.

It makes no sense to set this at a national level. $15/hr in Topeka isn't the same as $15/hr in San Jose.

Minimum wage jobs were never intended to provide a living wage, nor should they be expected to do so.

Okay lets say I currently make $15/hr and have been doing what I do for 10 years.

Now my boss hires someone right out of highschool and they make $8/hr. Next week when the minimum wage increases, he now makes $15/hr.

Should I not get an increase in pay?

I mean the products that I am currently getting are going to increase in price. Hell the product that I make is going to increase from $230/day to $300/day in labor.

Who does this benefit?

If you have a job that someone works the entire work week for when else are they supposed to earn a living?
