This is exactly the problem.

Until we start expecting more and saying, “We’re the United States. We’re here to win,” nothing changes.

Instead, every four years we hear the same crap:

“At least we got out of the group stage.”
“We had a tough draw.”

The bar is set way too low.

This tournament was a chance to bring millions of new fans to the sport in this country. Win or lose, in the end people can accept getting beat. What they can’t accept is watching a team that doesn’t look like it’s giving everything it has
