ESPN Ranks LSU's Deuce Geralds Among Top Freshmen In College Football

LSU Sports Photography
LSU defensive tackle Deuce Geralds continues to turn heads during his impressive freshman season.
ESPN released its rankings of the Top 25 freshmen in college football so far this season, with Geralds coming in at No. 2 overall.
The former four-star recruit has made an immediate impact on LSU's defensive line, recording five sacks through the first five games. Geralds also made history against McNeese last Saturday, becoming the first LSU player to record a sack and score an offensive touchdown in the same game.
Here's what ESPN had to say about the Tigers' standout freshman:

2. Deuce Geralds, DT, LSU
While he wasn't LSU's highest-rated defensive line recruit -- that belonged to No. 1 recruit Lamar Brown -- Geralds still ranked No. 40 in the nation, and we tabbed him as a ready-made Day 1 contributor because of his explosiveness despite a smaller 6-1, 280-pound frame. He has lived up to expectations, earning a role immediately along a talented Tigers defensive front. Geralds' five sacks are tied for eighth nationally, and he even ran for a touchdown in a blowout against McNeese. Geralds has the strength to hold up against the run with a motor that keeps him around the football.
