Answer my question first: why would someone with a skill work somewhere where they make the same money as the people with less skills?

They may prefer one job to another.

People act like they’d rather be sitting over a hot fryer getting yelled than be the one yelling.

Apparently minimum wage jobs are for morons and children but slightly better paying jobs are like running a Fortune 500 company.

So people like having more responsibility at their job while making less money? Makes sense.

Yes. Many will quit. But mainly, small business will be destroyed across the country. Price of goods and services will rise dramatically. Automation in large corporate world will eliminate those "minimum wage" jobs. In short, raising minimum wage only hurts business across the board, and the economy. Anyone with a basic understanding of economics knows this.

In the grocery store world, minimum wage stock boys and cashiers will be let go. Automation will take over where it can be done. Owners and managers will end up performing as many of the duties as they, themselves can perform. At the end of the day, it will be very hard for a store owner to continue with these new artificially imposed wages. So now that business is closed, and no NO ONE is making any money. Those that were employed must now seek unemployment, which is a net drain on the economy. Those of us employed will see their taxes raised to cover the newly unemployed unemployment benefits.

When Seattle raised the minimum wage, there were workers who chose to work less hours.

MINIMUM wage. Meaning, you are paid because you have the MINIMUM skill. Explain how a company remains profitable when their labor staff expense has doubled. How do you stifle dissent amongst managers, or those with skills greater than the minimum?

frick you ever stock shelves and stand on your feet working a cash register?

There are lots of manual labor jobs that pay better than shitty desk jobs that people don’t do because manual labor sucks

If you’re gonna make 15 an hour do you want another boss to bitch at you?

I have, in high school. What's your point?

Yes, but with manual labor, such as construction, you learn a skill on the job, and as your skill level rises, so does your pay. Also, in construction, your starting wages are based on the market, not the minimum wage. HOwever, if $15/hour is enacted, construction costs are about to skyrocket as well.

Are you denying $15/hour mandatory won't dramatically hurt our economy? Or are you just making up anecdotal scenarios from viewpoint of a minimum wage worker who doesn't like a boss?

why stop there? why not one million per hour then everyone can be like Bill Gates instead of just live comfortably

This is a great opportunity (i know you said it tongue in cheek) to point out how the real world works.

If everyone earns a million dollars and hour what that does is make everyone much closer to being equal. People will not have more wealth just more money.

Money is a placeholder for productivity. You produce and the production gets you money because money is easier that bartering everything.

The only way to make the average standard of living go up is for the average production to go up.

10 dollars an hour buys you 1 hours of production worth of shite you can buy for an hour of your work.

100000000000 dollars and hour also buy you 1 hours worth of production and the store.

I have worked stocking shelves & making minimum wage. Thats bc I was young & had no experience, training, education, etc. If the store owner would have had to pay me $15/hr, I wouldn't have had a job at all.

I am pointing out why some people may want to be lower management even if they’re isn’t a significant raise.

I find it odd that you haven’t given me just ONE FULL TIME min wage job that you don’t get a raise within 6 months.

Why?

Not if everything doubles in price when you go from 15k to 31k.

Yes you do. The answer is zero. There are no full time minimum wage jobs. They don’t exist past a trial/training period.

Plenty if the market dictates it.

Doubling the salary of low skill workers doesn't happen in a vacuum. There will be a cascading effect on everyone's salary & the price of labor throughout the country. Employers will handle it differently. Some will automate. Some will furlough & stop hiring. Some will increase prices as much as possible. Some will work their current employees twice as hard as they already do.

But according to you, everything will be more stable.
