A single payer health care system will not work in a country as heavily populated as this one.
Its not so much the size is it’s the spending disparity. You have a small number of patients making up a majority of the spending. Thus, unless you’re in thst small minority of patients, you’re better off paying for your own.

When only 53% of people favor something that they haven’t been informed of the negative sides that is not a favorable number.

You're getting mad at people without boots for not pulling themselves up with their bootstraps.

Then when they point out they don't have boots, you tut tut and remind them that they only need to pull harder.

Also, this is a typical, boring leftist ploy we see here. An emotional appeal to a logical problem, because the left is incapable of logical thought. Look at this response

"You're so mean getting mad at people who won't __________" I'm not mad at anyone (again save for educators who have failed so many students) I'm simply pointing out that people still largely control their own destiny in this country.

ANYONE in this country who fails in life can find someone else to blame, if they wish."It's cuz I'm a woman" "It's cuz I'm black" "It's cuz I'm _____________" we all know someone like this. Doesn't make their claims true.

Why not single payer? The system is broken, as it currently exists.

And more specifically, cultural expectations about what constitutes "quality care", especially for those over 65, make the prospect of a single payer system dauntingly expensive.

If we wanted to, we could combine everything we spend in Medicare, Medicaid, TriCare, and VA and create an NHS for America tomorrow. But no one wishes to do that because no one in this country would want to live under the econometric rules that the NHS enforces.

Anyone else find it puzzling that leftists— fascinated with disparity in income among individuals and along racial demographics never talk about medical spending along those lines?

Much like there is a “1%” for income there’s a “1%” of healthcare takers. Yet, oddly no one talks about them paying a “fair share”.

Stop doing transplants. You’ll save a TON of money, and almost no one (statistically) gets harmed. We do want medicine for “the good of society”, right?

This is because they don't understand that even in places with 'free' single payer medicine, everybody pays into the health system, even if they don't pay any income taxes. They just believe what Bernie tells them, everything is free and Rich people will pay for it all

It is still a very bad idea...pure democracy does not care about truth or facts.

Good luck getting a surgical procedure for a torn Achilles if you're over the age of 25.

People being ignorant to how much better things could be is not a very impressive argument.

So you're staking your entire argument on your belief that the Federal government can be cheaper and more efficient than the market?

Say it out loud and realize how ridiculous that sounds.

Socialized medicine would cure this. Eventually socialized medicine would let these people die.

This is the evolution of health care. We will end up with socialized medicine and then people of means will get private supplemental insurance policies that allow them to see elite doctors, reduce wait times, etc...etc...

There is no way that poor people in this or in any other country will ever get anywhere near the healthcare that people of some wealth can obtain. Not happening, no way, no how. It is impossible.

I'd like to see the percentage of Americans that actually understand what a single-payer healthcare system is, what its implications are, and everything else that comes with it.

To be fair though, that's not the argument single payer proponents are making. They recognize that a small number of people suck up the majority of resources. They simply argue that this isn't "fair" that those of who don't use the resources should help shoulder their burden.

I't a play on emotion. Again

Why not execute the morbidly obese who disproportionately use up so much of our healthcare resources. I mean the current system is broken........

See how silly that line of thinking is?

All I know is that if you look at the people who live in countries with single payer healthcare, most of them are satisfied with the level of coverage that they have.

Single payer is a better alternative than what currently exists, but one has to wonder if there's not a better, more innovative alternative that no one has yet proposed.

this is a dumb way to measure if a system is good or not
