Your theory about why so many people are willing to wait at drive-thrus for so long

The line at Chick-fil-A was backed up into the decel lane earlier today. Chick-fil-A is delicious, but I'll still never understand. It looked like torture.
To an extent I think it gives some people some peace and quiet and an excuse to have quality one-on-one time with their phones, which is all that many people ever want anyway these days, whether they realize it or not. There has to be more to it than that, though. It's baffling.
It seems like more of a recent phenomenon. I don't remember it always being this way, except when a new place opened and after a week or two it would die down.

Some drive thrus will trick you. Like Sonic… but even a full double line at Chikalay goes pretty quickly.
Also- a lot of drive thrus trap you by boxing you in so you can’t leave if you get fed up.

I’ve given up fast food. It all tastes awful. It’s horrible. And the service? Joke. Got folks in there screaming about living wage that probably aren’t high functioning enough to tie their own shoes.
Chik-fil-a is far from what it was. Last time I got chicken there it was like trying to chew up a sneaker.

Chick fila is different.
Unlike McDonald’s, Bojangles and Popeyes, they don’t HATE me for being my “hue” and handing them money.
Chick-fil-A will get you in the line and out pretty quickly because they figured it out.
Plus it’s safer to eat chicken at this chicken establishment. It’s just safer.

You can literally make yourself a better meal in your own kitchen in about the time you spend driving to a fast food place and waiting in a 15 minute drive thru.

You live within driving distance of a Bojangles, which means you live in a shithole. Our Popeyes workers are almost exclusively Latina or Filipino, and are shockingly polite and fast, unlike the car loads full of retards ordering.

My BIL had a procedure a couple days ago and I was his driver.
We got out of the hospital about 3 pm and he'd fasted since 9 pm previous.
I'd planned to go to someplace decent but he said get me to the closest fastest place which was BK.
So we go to the drive through because he's an older fella and we had to sit in recovery extra because anasthesia dizzy, BP, etc. No way was I going to let him get out of the car and walk around.
These clowns were SLOW. He tells me he never does the drive thru, doesn't trust em, slow, etc.
I say MOTHERfrickER NEITHER DO I, this is on you.
Kid at the window was super apologetic and nice so no big deal, and my BIL enjoyed the frick outta his whopper, but it'll probably be a few years until I have to hit the drive through again

Best thing CFA ever did. Unfortunately it's not at every location.
Two things piss me off about drive-thru
1) Why does it take you 5-10 minutes at the order screen to decide what you want? These chains have been around forever. The menu is the menu outside of a very small amount of limited time items. Also decide what you want before you get to the speaker. And no you don't need to make 17 alterations to your Mexican pizza. It's fast food.
2) People who refuse to order ahead on the apps, which cause them to be the person in my complaint #1 above, then proceed to show the app on their phone for the worker to scan it for points anyways.
