LoL. This is about the most LA deal ever. "Say y'all, while I am still in charge I am going to donate this to the state. I will be retiring next month though. Won't you guys be looking for someone to run the place at a nice salary?" Wink. Wink. Nudge. Nudge.

The agenda referred to the deal only as “Project Osprey,” a code name the suit says was used so that “even if a member of the public happened across the meeting notice, they wouldn’t know what the meeting was about.”
So they didn’t violate open meeting laws? The “Project Osprey” meeting slipped by the activists, and now they are mad.
The people behind this lawsuit had never heard of Vermillion Parish until Elon showed up, and now they are mad.

The Yankees are taking your plantation and here’s why it’s a good thing!

Sounds serious, Elon should move it to Mississippi or Alabama before it is too late. If not, in 10 years all the parishes will be adding Elon to the lawsuits against the oil companies, blaming him for coastal shore erosion too. His troubles are just beginning in Louisiana.

So they are upset they gave away property taxes.
No launch station no taxes
Launch station will generate tons of area traffic I a number of ways that will help the area
Just people that either want a cut or just hate Elon because of associated TDS….. or both.

Also, Entergy is disguising data center supply upgrades with all these new power poles going up around town. Ammiright?
I doubt that.
Around my area of town (Jefferson Hwy/Hoo Shoo Too) the wooden poles they are replacing are long overdue and were leaning toward the road more than a little.
Hardening the grid around the city of BR has little or nothing to do with Data Center demands.

On Aug. 25, the board approved a payment-in-lieu-of-taxes agreement with SpaceX tied to a 25-year property tax exemption estimated at nearly $24 billion.
So instead of valuing Elon’s property at 24 billion, they might get a few hundred million added to the tax rolls.
Still adding that much value to the land will still generate millions of dollars for Vermillion Parish.
Without it, Vermillion property taxes stay flat and do not grow with inflation.
The judge should dismiss the case and give the defendants’ attorney’s fees for wasting the court’s time.

Dont do shady shite. Police Juries all over this state have violated the open meetings law with the data centers. Just have the meetings.
Doing shady shite makes the whole deal look… shady. Just be honest with the residents.

This. Why keep it secret? The blue hairs won't matter if you just do it the right way. Open meetings. Public comments. Submit the proper environmental reports. We all know the bribed class of LA politicians won't reject it, so why even give this opening to the opposition? Oh noz, poor Elon might not be able to get it done on his schedule! Now all it takes is a couple of sympathetic judges to cause the same delay. Its just short sightedness for quicker profit/payoff/bribe. Typical LA bullshite, which is likely 70% of the reason Elon is coming to LA anyway.

I just don’t understand why there is uproar over an un-used swath of marsh. SpaceX will be a good steward and bring millions to the local tax base. If SpaceX wasn’t coming then it’s just an extension of poverty as usual. And for what? So some old mouth breathers can duck hunt undisturbed?

A friend is good friends with the largest general contractor in Acadiana. My friend was in a meeting with Musk & the general contractor & Musk told him he would be needing 16,000 contractor employees to start the project.

This is why we can’t have nice things?
Because we don't allow politicians to sell our homes out from under us? Look, Space Port may have benefits, but it may also be a historic boondoggle. Hiding it behind NDAs and sneaky agenda items makes me lean boondoggle more and more every day.
