re: Official US/Israel vs Iran war thread

I'm pro Trump but I'm not sure this person who presents themselves as a pre-teen, informing us about the war effort, lends the exercise much credibility...

Despite war expense, the government is still $140b ahead of FY 2025.
War time Trump may end up more fiscally responsible than peace time Biden.
If accurate, $140B is not chump change...

The 4 preconditions that Trump accepted:
1. The release of Iran’s frozen assets
2. A ceasefire in Lebanon
3. Limitation on passage through the Strait of Hormuz to 15 vessels per day, with transit payment
4. The prohibition of any redeployment of U.S. forces and equipments
I'm not shooting the messenger.
But the side that is winning the conflict doesn't have to agree to pre-conditions.
"They don't have the cards..." is as true as it ever was with regards to Iranian negotiations.

or this guy is the dumbest motherfricker on earth.
It clearly wasn't a well thought out plan and was carried out based on impulse.
But again, you're dealing with a person who thinks it is OK to murder someone because of what they say about gay/trans people. This is not a rational person to begin with.
quote:
Nobody is really interested in answering "bigger questions" around here. It there is a readymade explanation for fricked up shite, by God we go with that one.
Fair point.
But with regards to the Kirk assassination, I don't believe their is a broader conspiracy afoot.
-Rooftops were open to anyone with a pulse who could open a door and climb a flight of stairs.
-Not a long or hard shot for any scoped rifle.
-Propensity to violence from mentally ill people (especially gender dysphoria) is well documented in many recent shooting events.
If one wants to dream up conspiracy theories hard enough, you can. But at some point you end up in the same camp with the folks who say the twin towers were a controlled demolition and the planes weren't even real.
quote:
Sounds like about on par with the SS detail meant to protect Trump in Butler then, huh?
Fair point, and I'll argue that lack of protection for Trump was "wilful incompetence".
It's clear the SS didn't have their shite together at that event either. Why, is a bigger question.

Kirk’s private security wasn't just a standard hired detail; it was heavily comprised of "Tier 1" veterans from Israeli intelligence and special forces.
Elite Pedigree: The firm—often identified in investigative circles as having deep links to Shin Bet (Israel's internal security service) and Sayeret Matkal (elite reconnaissance)—specialised in "high-threat executive protection."
So "elite" that they didn't have the foresight or resources to even put some warm bodies on a few rooftop vantage points?
For whatever reason, they were not preparing for this type of threat, shame on them.
The entry and exit wounds can be dramatically influenced by the bullet type (FMJ, HP, bonded, etc).
I don’t dispute your hunting experiences, I’ve had similar ones also.
But every bullet type doesn’t behave the exact same way.

re: Ford F150 - 2.7L vs 3.5L
Posted by AndyCBR on 4/8/26 at 12:51 pm to CapitalTiger
It took Ford a long time to get the 3.5 to where it could be called reliable.
The 2.7 has had its teething issues also.
Of the 3, I believe the 5.0 is probably the simplest, and most reliable motor.
With that said, the Ford product is not great and they would all need major repairs sooner than they should IMHO.

Did not attack us?
Where the frick have you been for the last 47 years?
As someone who was old enough to remember seeing our citizenry paraded around as hostages in Iran you are 100% full of shite.
And there are hundreds of other examples over the years...

I wonder if the unimproved runway was too short to land the C130 with the little birds inside but they didn’t care because they had to have the little birds for the op. They may have known there was a good shot they would run out of runway and end up in the sand trap.
They brought in different planes to get out which may have been able to stop and turn around on a shorter runway. May have been an acceptable loss to complete the mission from the planning stage and not necessarily a surprise.
I don't know the whole story yet.
But a C-130 is not a small plane. It may have landed OK and then the nose wheel/other gear sunk deeper from sitting there for a while.
Pure speculation on my part but something kind of similar happened when a Boeing 737 in 1988 emergency landed on a levee near New Orleans and it was kind of a rush to get the engines fixed and get it back in the air as it was sinking into the ground.
It is wild that a decision was made so quickly to get smaller planes and then consider the Hercs and the baby birds a lost cause and blow them up in place.

I take it you’re asserting that the time for populace rising up has come and gone? I didn’t realize that. Well I’ll be.
I'm not privy to all the battle plans.
But it is curious the Iraqi PMF were allowed into the country and not destroyed on the road in.
Now the PMF guys are mixed in with the populace.
If the plan is for the people to rise up against the IRGC this certainly complicates the matter.
quote:
Again, like it or not this is exactly what is happening in real time.
Cope.
There's nothing to "cope".
I'll not dispute what you're saying, but I sure as shite won't celebrate it, like you appear to be doing.
The US is not an island and the impacts of this conflict will absolutely affect us.
quote:
That being, frick their shite up and walk away. Leave it to the rest of the world who still deals with terrorists to figure out.
I wish it were that simple.
The turmoil this creates in global supply chains, helium, rare earth minerals, LNG, other imports, etc. is a financial problem for the US.
While I like that Trump has emphasized bringing manufacturing and jobs back to America, we are a long ways away from that and a great many things we depend on still come from overseas.
Declawing Iran was the right long-term move, but there will be some short-term consequences we will all feel.
quote:
Ground war? With who? Iran military wiped out.
I wouldn't say that just yet. Iran is a pretty huge country and they have tons of bases.
Just because we basically own the airspace doesn't mean every person with small arms and every military vehicle is out of the picture.
Best way to win a ground war? Never start one to begin with.
As others have said, the existing uranium Iran has must be part of the military objective in this operation.

We have seen this movie before in this part of the world. Only Iran is a much larger and more complex country. It's religion, it's politics and history.
I think it is important to note that there are still many people in Iran who are alive that remember what Iran was like before the Ayatollah.
They had freedom and essentially a western-like society before.
Iran is not Iraq.
I think you grossly overestimate the percentage of the populace that supports the IRGC and strict radical Muslim laws.

This is an abomination akin to the boiled soup some Texans call gumbo or Jambalaya made with parboiled rice.
Good news but I am more concerned about the validity of all ballots being cast, regardless of when they show up at the polls.
The dirty Dems can absolutely cheat prior and up to Election Day.
And most importantly, during the count as we saw in 2020 as multiple batches were scanned multiple times.

Lot's of fun memories on the front 9.
I went to LSU in the early 90's and had some ex-HS buddies that were student workers at the course.
We would sneak in there after hours and race around on the golf carts after some beers. We managed to mangle a few carts once or twice.
If I had to guess there wasn't enough real full time staff to keep the place up properly, like most state run facilities and stuff on campus (Student workers tearing up golf carts probably didn't help!)

This poofter acting so brave when others are taking the risk with their lives is disgusting.
Frick you Miss Lindsey and your “Kodak moment”.
I’ll be glad when warmongers like him are put out to pasture.
