Now imagine the Democrats getting in charge and jailing or fining people for violating this standard because it causes climate change.

Can you email them and ask if it's ok to have a fan on?

Energy Star, a federal program run by the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy
Sounds like a program we could do away with and spend the money elsewhere.
When the federal government pays my power bill, they can frick off and I'll set my thermostat to my comfort level.

The official federal government recommendation for keeping your house cool in the summer is to keep your air conditioning set at 78 degrees.
When you're at work or away, the program recommends setting it at 85 degrees.
When you're sleeping, the government suggests you set the thermostat at 82 degrees.
Example 1 of Why We Can't Trust the Government

1) Put the entire U.S. population under house arrest
2) Require them to make their prison cel - I mean, "homes" as miserable as possible
Sorry Uncle Sam, my house stays at 69 degrees year round

And sleep with your mask on

70 during the day (now that I work from home), 68 (and sometimes 67) at night when we’re sleeping. I’m paying the bill for that cool air, so the EPA can get lost.

They should probably focus on making guidelines that someone might actually consider following. That entire study was a waste of taxpayer money, because the end result was meaningless information.
Who in their right mind would willingly sleep in 82° heat?

I think everyone from Texas to Florida says, collectively, “Go frick yourself.”

I keep my thermostat at 77 during the day and 76 at night. My old man taught me that in the summer when it is hot outside it should be slightly warm inside and conversely in the winter when it’s cold outside then it should be cool inside.
