Yearly Reminder To Set The AC At 78 Degrees During The Summer Months
The recommendation - made as part of Energy Star, a federal program run by the Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Energy that is aimed at helping consumers make energy efficient decisions - is in the news after being referenced in a Consumer Reports story earlier this month.

The official federal government recommendation for keeping your house cool in the summer is to keep your air conditioning set at 78 degrees.

When you're at work or away, the program recommends setting it at 85 degrees.

When you're sleeping, the government suggests you set the thermostat at 82 degrees.

re: Yearly Reminder To Set The AC At 78 Degrees During The Summer Months
It is currently 63 degrees in my house.

Deal with it

ETA

After a day of drinking in the sun there was zero chance I was waking up to a 75 degree house.

Are they footing the bill for everyone's whole house humidifier that will be needed?

I’d rather tase my own balls than try to sleep at anything above 70.
