Yeah... no.
F that. I sleep better when it’s colder

This might work in other parts of the country, but it doesn't work in the south. 78 to 85 would be miserable.
I don't even put my ac all that low. 73-75. Only go that high because my 4 year old doesn't sleep well at night when it's cooler than that and I'm sweating my arse off at night at that temp sometimes.

So you are anti government. You say 78 and the government suggest 85 and 82. As far what I set mine at. I usually set about 77-78 during the day and may drop it 76 at night. I work outside so that is plenty cool enough for me. In the winter I open my windows and don't close them until it gets below 45. But I set mine where ever I damn well please. When government starts paying my bills then they can have a say.

So you'd be okay with the government setting your thermostat to 85 if they pay the bill?

We can all laugh and tell them to go frick themselves, but someday they're going to make laws and penalize you for not obeying.

I guarantee you that the morons who came up with that number don't sleep with their thermostat at 82 at night. That's hot as hell.

I think if you didn't grow up with ac it would be different from having to make the switch after 42 years of having ac

My grandparents keep their thermostat on 68.
