Yes in general. However, I would try to find out what the groom and groomsmen were wearing which would verify the formality if nothing was mentioned on the invitation. It might be a suit or even jacket would not be required or maybe a linen or seersucker suit/jacket might be more correct.

That being said I have to point out I wear suits 5 days a week year-round so it is natural and comfortable for me.

They'd have specified if it were more casual.

Wear the jacket or dont, just know everyone will be looking at you the same as the trailer park uncle there that's wearing jeans and a short sleeve button down that had to be invited

He's always there. He just wants to wear "comfortable" clothes.

Yes, but it’s gonna be a seersucker suit and the jacket is off at the reception.

Outdoor July weddings in the south should be illegal

I was the best man in an outdoor wedding at a plantation in St Francisville in July. The groomsmen and the groom all took a limo from BR and we drank booze the whole way. I thought I was going to pass out in that tux at the wedding. Absolutely miserable.

The fact that you have to aske means you're not really not committed to the relationship.

Beach? What’s setting? I’d probably still wear one and take it off as I sat down then depending on weather rest of night. But would wear it to it at least

Hell no. Why be miserable. Nice long sleeve shirt with sleeves rolled up

But I forgot most of you still care what others think about you

I mean, a July outdoor evening wedding sucks

But it's still a wedding, and you wear a jacket at minimum to any decent wedding unless it's on the beach or something.

Is fine at the reception. Just wear the damn jacket.

And I’m a fat guy that sweats worse than a $2 whore in church.

Definitely wear something that transitions well. Very light jacket that you can bail on when others go that route

Modern protocol for a 6:30 p.m. wedding is a darker suit because it’s an evening wedding.

That said, you’re in the South, in the dead of summer, at an outdoor wedding. A linen or seersucker suit would be the ticket. And wear a tie. You can always loosen it or take it off later.

I went to an outdoor wedding in New Orleans in the afternoon in July. Was freaking miserable. Didn’t wear a jacket bc I saw it coming
