Look. Louisiana is awesome. It’s also awful. It is a very special place in the sense that it magically is the best place ever but also it sucks so fricking much and every metrical standard tells you that somehow the US made Somalia a state.
I talk shite about it. But if I ever hear someone talk down about Louisiana I call them out. Because it’s my stupid family member. Of course it can barely count. But they can’t insult it. Only I can.

Breweries (you could throw a rock and hit a good brewery, but here are some I have been to and recommend):
Burial (my favorite)
Wicked Weed (they have a funkatorium that only does sours and a normal location, both great)
Hi-Wire
New Belgium
Eluvium
Highland
Also, if you keep an eye out for the food truck for Smokee’s Pizza, highly recommend. My friends brother runs it and they make a hell of a pizza.

We were going to do this (no kids just my wife and I) but saw the ticket prices and said frick that.
Can’t be very helpful with kid-friendly activities, but if you need brewery recommendations I can assist.

I appreciate it. And yes the raise is $10k. I’m not at all embarrassed by being a charity runner over a qualified one. A friend of mine is a qualified runner this year and is an absolute beast - that’ll never be me. But being able to complete a marathon (goal is sub-4hr) and raise a lot of money for a good cause is just fine by me!

I grew up there and in the 90s/early 2000s, I had a great life. It was a fun place to go to college.
Sadly it continues to go downhill, and if you’re out of college and not pushing out kids and paying $10k/year for private education, it’s just not a good place to live. So I got out of dodge.
I still love visiting once a year, eating like a fatass, and then getting the hell out.
