LSU Safety Ty Benefield Talks About The Challenges Of Winning On The Road

LSU heads to Auburn this Saturday looking for its first SEC road win in two years, and safety Ty Benefield knows the Tigers will have their work cut out for them.
LSU hasn't won a conference game away from Tiger Stadium since defeating Arkansas on October 19, 2024. The Tigers will look to end that drought against an Auburn team coming off a massive upset victory over Georgia.
Speaking with reporters Tuesday, Benefield discussed the difficulty of winning on the road in the SEC and what LSU has learned from its previous trips to Ole Miss and Kentucky.
"Winning any game is hard, no matter what level you're at, but it is different when it's the SEC, and especially when you're on those away games," Benefield said.
Benefield emphasized the importance of doing the little things right, pointing to LSU's overtime loss at Kentucky as an example.
"Small things equal big things," Benefield said. "You see how those small plays can just lead up to outcomes, which are big things, as you saw in the Kentucky game."
"But honestly, just forgetting the past and moving on, but applying those things that we learned schematically and stuff like that."
Benefield also shared his thoughts on Auburn quarterback Byrum Brown, who presents another challenge for LSU's defense this weekend.
"He's a very good quarterback. Kind of puts the team on his back," Benefield said. "You can see, runs the ball hard, got a good arm. That's all I can really say."
