I’ve done this exercise several times in my career and the stereotypes are as accurate as I’m about to describe. Nothing to do with politics or political references, but:
West: in shape, healthy people. Hotel gyms crowded. Overall genuine niceness. Running trails heavily populated.
East: fat, unkept men and women. Hotel gyms all to yourself. More interested in dinner destination than an afternoon run. Constant bitching and complaining about any topic brought up. Overall negative people.

I would choose LA over NYC. Cali is freaking awesome once you get out of the cities.

I've lived in both. I liked Southern California but the amount of time I spent driving got a bit old. I really enjoyed all the diverse nature that was easy road trips. I liked living in San Diego more than LA.
I've been in NYC for over 20 years. I moved here because of work and never would have guessed how much I'd like it.
That said, I wouldn't want to move out of brownstone Brooklyn, filled with trees and greenery, and back to Manhattan.

We might run in different circles, some of the best dressed I've witnessed are in NYC....the brokers/investment bankers in my business dealings are in shape and most dated/married former models.
L.A. has better weather, but the homeless defecating on the street and crazy Liberals are a huge pass for me.

Nobody lives in those areas and politics suck either side. Again, bringing biased politics into the discussion when it’s not part of the topic. Leave politics out.

Born and raised in Southern California so for me it's a no brainer. LA weather beats NY every day of the week. It was 1/2 hour to get to the beach. 1 hour to get to mountains and skiing if that's your thing. 2 hours to the desert.
Downtown LA lacks what NY city can offer, but it's catching up. Food in LA can match NYC, 3 hours to get to world class wineries. .

LA
Traffic is much better but can still be a pain but true for pretty much everywhere now. It is easier to get around, LA is spread out and flat, whereas NYC is vertical.
Weather is much better, and there are tons of things to do outdoors.
