When I lived there, I was dead center. 1 mile from the Hermosa pier and 1 mile from the Manhattan pier. Two totally different vibes and then you have Redondo which again is a different vibe. The entire South Bay is the best part of L.A. by far.
I really wanted Newport Beach this time around but that was too far away from her friends. Even this new place is a 45-minute drive to see them but that's the compromise we both made.

I’ve lived in Los Angeles for over a decade and love it. It’s got everything. if it doesn’t have what you want, you’re not looking. The sheer volume of things to do and places to see far outweigh the negatives that everybody here seems to dwell on. Don’t even get me started on the short road trips that you can do on the weekends. Mountains, beaches, deserts, etc.

LA easily, plus quick airline proxy to Hawaiian isles, Las Vegas, Del Mar/San Diego, Carmel, Sun Valley, Big Bear Lake, Tahoe/Reno, Park City, San Fran, Vancouver, all of Colo, etc...

LA, but I'd have to live and work in a suburb. I could not deal with the 405 on a daily basis.
NYC is all city, unless you told me I could live and work on Long Island. I could do Long Island.
Notice I could not live in the city proper, it would have to be the burbs, and LA has a lot more of those to choose from.

LA, Louisiana is the best. New York has been ruined.

La easily. Unless I’m unbelievably wealthy I would never want to live in nyc, and even then I’d prefer LA.
