I'd be cool though with everything being in the back and walking around looking at demos.
Dicks does this for shoes and it honestly saves time in addition to stopping/limiting shoe theft.

Paying upfront for food is already a thing in fast food. Only a matter of time before all food establishments adopt it, thanks to people that steal

I think that restaurants should require you to pay before you actually eat the food.

Just move to a membership model. Some small amount but a credit and background check required. Problem solved.

For medical bills absolutely.
I loath when I pay for a medical procedure and then months later get a bill because the dr and insurance decided to ask for more.

Yea, I'd have no problem with it. Pretty much try to pay in advance everywhere already.

Isn't that what Walgreens is now, with everything behind locks?

No.
Why inconvenience all of society a portion of 12% that cannot behave like humans?
Companies should however be clear about why they close brick and mortar locations in areas where theft is high. Stop mealy mouthing around saying the obvious: we’re closing locations in black neighborhoods because black people are stealing. Don’t hide behind “market trends” bullshite.
I can't think of anything this would apply to, for the most part, other than dining. OP didn't specifically mention that. I'd be fine with requiring a cc on seating.

Absolutely. Why don’t you pay me $1,000 upfront and I’ll cut your grass for the next year. I swear, I’ll do it.

How big is the front?
Asking for a friend.
as example, is this the front to be paid for?

Dining? I wouldn't have a huge problem with basically "opening a tab with a cc" upon being seated.
Wouldn’t even be a tab. Waitress with a digital menu. You order, you pay. Done.
More wings or another round? Sure, you pay.

First reaction was "No" there is no reason I should be inconvenienced due to the bad behavior of others but then I relaxed and searched for the silver lining.
If this reduces the number of Klingons inside my favorite establishments then "I'll allow it"

Is this like Service Merchandise, where the display stuff is up front? Then you buy and it comes out on a conveyor belt.
