I have and not a fan. Just not a flavor profile that I liked, for some reason.

My go-to's are Very Old Barton and Wild Turkey. Jim Beam if I'm buying in bulk.

I just bought a fifth of the winning bourbon... Cost 45... Said this was 5 bucks off. I started arguing with the cash register person... Now I need bail money...

Fair statement, but I give that to Ben Holladay Bourbon. 6-year, bottle-in-bond. They have a wheat and rye bourbon. Really respect them for not pushing out the first batch until the 6-year mark.

Have a good friend who was a classically trained professional chef, owned and worked at some well known restaurants in NOLA and eventually transferred over to the liquor business. Point being he was a professional in the industry and had a refined palate with the history to back it up.

I asked him about the whole "taste of burnt almonds from a cast iron frying pan..." comments these tasters make. His answer? "It's 98% bullshite."

Best offering they have is the "Pure Kentucky" at about $33-$35 depending on where you get it (My opinion)

But I like a little more proof it's at 107.

Glad that one won't go way up in price.

My God yes!!!! one of the highlights of driving to the beach was always stopping in and raiding his shelf of picks. They'd be hands down the best bottles i scored all year... while that's said K Luke is a pretty badass label

Cmon Baw…GJ is just ok. JD has so many better offerings now like their Barrel Proof Bourbon & Rye. But if you like a lower abv, the regular JD Single Barrel is delicious & beats GJ hands down..any day. Heck the JD bonded does too.

Which is why I think most barrel picks are bullshite. 95% of bourbon drinkers can barely differentiate individual bourbons, much less which barrel is better. Especially after you had 2-3 different tastings.

Just want to echo the thoughts of BIB.

I really line Old Grandad BIB. REALLY nice flavor for the price.

I’m not entirely sure the bourbon wave has crashed- we are now seeing the distilleries releasing some of the batches as from the increased aging buildings they built all over their properties.

It does seem like the sipping tequilas might be the new darling of the liquor stores.
