We just got Willett in Michigan last year.
When I went to the distillery three years ago, people were going crazy for the purple tops. But, those were like $250.

I've had Pappy a few times and never was impressed. Never understood what all the hype was about. It was good, just not worth the price.
I had Pappy for the first time recently and was impressed, but absolutely agree it’s not worth the price.

My 2021 Jack Daniel’s Coy Hill is all I need. Nothing else compares.

I did the craft beer thing, and there's been a lot of carnage in the industry with breweries shutting down. I hope it's the bourbon "cheaters" that get squeezed out and not the actual distillers.
I think you will... the real distillers putting out good juice generally have a wide enough portfolio to keep them going..... but to your point we should start to see the death of all these "labels" that are just 5-6 year MGP reject barrels

Eagle Rare, Blantons, and many others are 2-3X what they *should* cost.
I haven't seen a bottle in the wild in Alabama in probably a decade, and I'm not paying $45 or whatever for it when WT 101 is sitting there at half the price, and I enjoy it nearly as much.

Any bottle of bourbon you see that says "Bottled in Bond" will be pretty much as good as bourbon can be.
I agree. I've not had a BiB that was not above average. Bulleit BiB is excellent. Their standard bourbon is shite.
If you see it, try Walker Percy's favorite: Early Times BiB. Cheap and very good.

Not if people are buying it. It's the law of supply vs. demand.

Try the Evan Williams Bottled in Bond… if you know, you know…

That's why I always buy the handle of Jim Bean for like $25. I've tried $50 and $60 for a fifth of the "fancier" stuff, and I can't tell much of a difference. Maybe my pallet isn't refined enough or what, but it doesn't make sense to spend 4x to 5x more for something that taste the same to me.

Same. I remember going into Rouses and they had single barrel store select ER on the shelf for months. It was $27/bottle and I could pick it up any time I wanted. Regular ER was, like you said, $25/bottle.
Then, something happened and availability evaporated overnight. Maybe it was a combination of the barrel house fire at BT and the craft beer shitlords transitioning over to bourbon. I don't know, but it sucks for the casual.
