Will environmental conservation ever become important throughout the South?

We have some great natural areas but most of the population of the region appears to not care about protecting any of it.

Distrust of any enviro efforts? Poverty and ignorance?

Yeah I would love to stop coastal erosion by stopping these fricking hurricanes. Got a plan for that chief?

Ummm the most money for coastal and wetland conservation comes from hunters/fishermen in the South.

Yeah bro, I’m heading out to create marsh. Kids work land up pretty quick in Minecraft, so it shouldn’t be much trouble

Go to the outdoor board and ask them what they think.

If Yellowstone was in the south, it would have been clear cut and strip mined 100 years ago, and what's left would have hunting camps all over it. Sorry to say, but its true.

Not voluntarily

Go to a public boat launch or a place that crabbers frequent and tell me that those "sportsmen" care about the environment

The south has lower rates of air pollution, deforestation, habitat encroachment, etc than the Midwest, west coast, and north east

Lol absolutely not. We sold our soul for awl and gaz, baw. Pipeline buildin, baw.

Ain’t got time to worry about the environment when there’s Houston fat cats to make rich and double-wides to buy and put on 12 acres.

Believe it or not, many southerners are great stewards of the environment. From wetland preservation to gardening to composting, some of the most conservative people are the most environmental friendly.

Just because you don’t believe that man is the sole cause of changing climate and that taxing citizens is the way to solve it doesn’t mean you don’t try to do your best to not be wasteful

Hunters are generally amongst the most supportive of environmental conservation. No shortage of those in the South.

Anytime I go to my camp, I use a boat launch (Bob's Bayou Black Marina) and it's nothing but bass fishers and hunters. We all care about protecting the area.
