re: Audubon Park Golf - Potential Closure - lsu13lsu
I agree. I have always thought they should sell it and focus energy on remaining courses. Beaver Creek could be a special place. ...
Kind of hilarious to say that Alabama is light years ahead when the RTJ Trail is draining the state’s pension fund. Not defending LA at all but every public “business” sucks balls.
From top to bottom when I play in Alabama the experience and conditions are far superior. Now financ...

re: Audubon Park Golf - Potential Closure - lsu13lsu
City courses rarely close. Brec hired an expert and was advised to close multiple courses a few years back. Did they? No, Howell and Clark are still operating to my knowledge.
You would be wrong. They closed Howell and have plans in the works to close either all or half of Dumas...

re: Audubon Park Golf - Potential Closure - lsu13lsu
I would say Alabama and Mississippi are light years ahead of Louisiana in golf. So, my experience is in three states. We are well behind those in even Baton Rouge and New Orleans. I am not arguing anything. I am just telling you guys don't be surprised if someone is sick and tired of running...

re: Audubon Park Golf - Potential Closure - lsu13lsu
Are they breaking even?
They are "pretty much breaking even". But, that is pretty vague. Does that include future capital projects? Is that just this past year? I asked about numbers but got no response. I don't know answer to that. There are plenty of courses in NOLA that ...

re: Audubon Park Golf - Potential Closure - lsu13lsu
The question in Louisiana, is the general golf welfare already sufficiently covered. That is what Park Systems are asking themselves. Could the space be used for something else and golfers play at one of the other options. When parks got into golf it was because it wasn't available to everyone...

FTR, I don't want this course to close. I am just shedding light on the fact that the golf industry in Louisiana is not healthy and all our favorite courses are at risk. ...

re: Audubon Park Golf - Potential Closure - lsu13lsu
You are guaranteeing that they will always break even? No floods, no hurricanes, no loss of greens, no irrigation failures? Because the $300k is a near certainty. Businesses have risks. Plus, you are ignoring future capital projects which golf courses always have. Who pays for those when the ...

re: Audubon Park Golf - Potential Closure - lsu13lsu
They are not breaking even. And until you have ran a capital intensive business with many employees at a loss then you are not qualified. It sucks. Every single day you are making decisions about whether to pay for chemicals or broken equipment or having restaurant staff cut short for day. It is...

re: Audubon Park Golf - Potential Closure - lsu13lsu
The Audubon Institute said that in one of the articles posted.
No they didn't. "pretty much breaks even" doesn't mean there is zero financial risk going forward especially compared to greenspace. Also, running an unprofitable golf course is a giant headache for a board as com...

re: Audubon Park Golf - Potential Closure - lsu13lsu
what exactly are you trying to explain to everyone?
Do not be surprised when more courses in Louisiana close even if it is your favorite. What people are essentially saying is other courses in NOLA should close and not this one.
it has been established that this is not...

re: Audubon Park Golf - Potential Closure - lsu13lsu
A reduction in courses is warranted and it'll be up to economics which ones fold first. Not emotions or sky screamers. I am just surprised people only realize golf courses are struggling when their neighborhood course is going under. You all should have been supporting this course so actively...
