re: I wish Ole Miss, with their newfound notoriety, would bring back the good old days ...

I have been going to LSU - Ole Miss games in Baton Rouge, Jackson and Oxford since 1966. I remember when the Ole Miss section was a sea of Rebel flags and their crowd would get whipped up into a frenzy when the band played Dixie. That would do wonders for recruiting these days.

She looked like a fool but I am glad that I don’t have a camera following me around every time I have a little too much to drink.

I could have done without being reminded of that.

He sure doesn’t look like a basketball player but I don’t think too many high school kids would want to fight him for a rebound.

Does television revenue count in determining how much income is generated by each sport?
It must because based upon the number of paying customers I see in the stands, men’s basketball should be far behind baseball and women’s basketball.
And I have been a huge LSU basketball fan since the Pete Maravich era and was a student during Dale Brown’s heyday.

re: Any full backs out there?

Does Kiffin even use a fullback?
They are becoming a vanishingly breed.
That tight end from Oregon we signed today sometimes lines up as a blocking back.

re: Any reason to use Vanguard Admiral funds over the ETFs?
Posted by geauxpurple on 1/15/26 at 7:41 pm to GREENHEAD22
Good idea.
Vanguard allows you to convert your fund shares into ETF shares and you can do it tax free as long as the underlying investments are the same. I did this for a few of mine.
If you want to consolidate different funds into one ETF you should consider potential tax consequences.

re: Anyone read the new Dan Brown book yet?

I am reading it now. I am about halfway through. It is quite the page turner.
I bought it after reading this post a few weeks ago, inspired by my recent trip to Prague. It adds to my enjoyment that I can picture exactly where most of these events take place.

ETF or Admiral?
I have both.
Unless it is important to you to be able to make immediate trades during market hours, I don’t think it makes a difference.
ETFs may be very slightly more tax efficient.

Baseball is the sport at the bottom of the revenue sharing totem pole. Baseball’s share needs to be increased.
re: At what point do we say this isn’t “free speech” anymore?
Posted by geauxpurple on 1/15/26 at 6:00 pm to burger bearcat
That type of speech is not protected by the first amendment. Those are fighting words, a face to face confrontation likely to provoke violence. That was way over the line. They should have arrested him.

Start chanting it for every piped in music song. Then maybe they will eliminate the piped in music.
re: Southern Italy Travel Planner ?

You don't need a travel agent.
We did the Amalfi Coast a few years ago.
We flew in to Naples and got www.transferelax.com to drive us to Positano. We stayed at Villa Gabrisa, a family run B&B type of place. They have 3 rooms on the second floor with large private terraces overlooking the Mediterranean. Incredible views. And there are several excellent restaurants nearby. It is not cheap, but it is not super expensive either because it is a little hike up the hill from the beach.
From Positano you can take day trips to the other towns along the coast fy ferry. We went to Capri, Ravello and the Town of Amalfi.
Fantastic trip.

re: Dante Moore returning to Oregon; not entering NFL Draft
Posted by geauxpurple on 1/14/26 at 11:59 pm to Chad504boy
He is turning down a guaranteed $50 million contract. His draft stock has nowhere to go but down. Bad decision on his part. I don’t care how much Nike is paying him.

re: LSU took money away from baseball to fund men’s basketball

Revenue generated-
Does this include television revenue for basketball? Because I have trouble believing that basketball collects more money at the event than baseball does right now.

I’m Done With Basketball Season

I am excited about following the transfer portal and baseball season starts in 30 days. That is enough to keep me occupied.
This is pitiful.
