Because we've always had a lot of beef, and beef is better.

I wonder if some breeds of horse might be better than others. Like a little Shetland pony might be better than a Clydesdale.

Horse is a delicacy in the country I work, and taste-wise, it’s not bad. It the mental side that makes me not want it.

That's a dumb graphic. The first 7 animals are all dogs and cats.

Same reason we don't eat dogs. They are seen as pets more than animals.

probably because we are a young country not that far removed from a couple crazy cowboy/adventurer types settling the land on horseback.

The German army of WW2 was highly dependent on horse drawn transport, a dependency that only increased as fuel stocks declined. Livestock Farmers throughout Europe were forced to shift to horse production to satisfy the militaries insatiable demand for draft horses. Meanwhile at the front horses died in the millions, to then be butchered by starving soldiers and civilians as the supply system broke down. The end of the war merged a population used to eating horsemeat to an agrisystem force designed to produce it.

Just another echo of the 3rd Reich in today's Europe.

Holy shite, was this one of the best tasting meats I've ever had. Had a fillet in S. Africa and was shocked at how tender and tasty.

My friend Jay Riemenschneider eats horse all the time. He gets it from his butcher.

Just like women. Fancy foods. Feet and hair have to be done. And if you don't give them enough attention, they will not let you ride them.

Hell I bet it makes good jerky then. Jerky has so much seasoning it doesn't really matter what the meat flavor is.
