link? I've talked to two people who actually ate horse meat. Neither said it was delicious. The didn't say it sucked, but they sure as hell stated it wasn't as good as a legit steak. You are stating opinion as fact. And I know way more people who do not care for venison (or any "gamy" meat) than those that do.
Americans have always had a love affair with the horse. Its an animal that is seen as more noble and elegant than other animals, certainly other food animals. And our history with them as laborers, protectors, etc through our country's early years only reinforced that relationship. Those are a few of the many reasons we don't consume horses in the US.

I had it once, in a stew on a campout. It basically tasted like beef and I probably would not have known had we not been told. It did not stand out in any way in a stew.
It's just something we are not accustomed to eating, but is eaten in other places, like Guinae Pigs, or llama.

Had horsemeat in Sardinia last month. A bit wary at first but couldn't get enough of it after that. Big steaks. No, it doesn't taste like chicken. Tastes like beef. Couldn't believe. It's a staple there.

I’ve had it, liked it and even got a second serving. Have eaten multiple times since. But, I guess your two sources are the end all be all though. Also considering your other acquaintances opinions on venison, sounds like some unrefined palates all around.

Meh. I had it once in Montreal. Maybe it wasnt prepared correctly or whatever, but I found it to be tough and chewy. The flavor was alright. Sort of like beef but sort of gamey closer to deer. A cross between beef and deer kinda. Mine was just incredibly tough.

Two reasons that I can think of. First, they aren’t very hearty creatures…if something hurts them, they are liable to just die.
Second reason is, they just don’t taste the best. Kinda like grass-fed beef. American’s like grain-fed better.

Anything in a stew tastes okay/the same. That's kind of what a stew is.
I've had horse a couple of times, including on a pizza. It was not good. At all. Not awful if I need it to live etc., but almost no one would choose it over beef, chicken, or pork.

My brother spent a summer at the University of Tours in Tours , France. He said the meal at the cafeteria the first night was horse tongue and he did not like it. As the days went by he said the food was so bad that eventually he looked forward to horse tongue night.

Horses are much more intelligent than cows in that they have advance cognitive abilities, can understand human emotions and body language, can remember and recognize their people and other horses even after long periods of separation, can learn and perform complex tasks and commands, etc. In short, they are like giant dogs that allow us to put a saddle on them and ride them, among other things.
Not judging anyone, but I don't see where any normal person that has spent a lot of time around horses could ever eat one. But that's just me.

I tried it when I was on a mission trip in Mexico. I found it very tough, dry & not a lot of flavor, but it could’ve been the way it was prepared.
