Lots of fires in area now I think
Arches and Canyonlands in Utah have nice views from the car, with many short, easy hikes to viewpoints. During the summer, it is hot though, but without the humidity of the south. Most NPs in the west are hot during the summer.

Congress Trail is a great hike. Be sure to visit Kings Canyon NP also while there.

I've been to Great Smoky Mountains, Hot Springs, Guadalupe Mountains, Carlsbad Caverns, White Sands, Saguaro, Petrified Forest, Joshua Tree, Sequoia, Kings Canyon, Pinnacles, Yosemite, Lassen Volcanic, Redwoods, Crater Lake, Great Basin, Arches, Zion, Canyonlands, Capital Reef, Bryce Canyon, Mesa Verde, Great Sand Dunes, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, and Rocky Mountain.
Plan on going to Cuyahoga Valley, Indiana Dunes, Mammoth Cave, New River Gorge, and Shenandoah this fall.

Favorite hike so far has been The Narrows in Zion and Taft Point in Yosemite.
