frick off bring from Texas. At least we aren’t run over by Dune Coons, wet backs, masques being built, and cities turning into small Californias, and towel heads running school districts. Tired of people talking shite about our state! Especially people from here. If you don’t like it…… move! Louisiana is awesome. One of a kind people in the southern region. Only place on the planet, for that matter! So frick off and go bow to your soon to be overtakers! Dont come running to the swamp when Texas goes blue!!!

State full of incompetents that are unable to make decisions today. Culture is to defer semi-different to difficult decisions for years. As long as the $ are available, every level of government will be full of lazy grifters.

Funny how the same people that freaked everything up for decade after decade, suddenly NOW have the solution to fix the complete pile of manure THEY created. But just give me more of YOUR $$$.

Hmmm, let's see. Super majority Republicans in the House. Super majority Republicans in the Senate. Republican Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Commissioner of Insurance, and Commissioner of Agriculture. Both U.S. Senators are Republicans. After this next election, five of the six members of Congress will be Republicans. Three of the five members of the Public Service Commission are Republicans. Four of the seven Justices on the Supreme Court are Republicans.

Nope, can't figure out why Louisiana is on the bottom of so many lists. A complete mystery.

Look at places with copious natural resources. They all end up shitty due to selling out like a two buck whore. LA is the whore with greasy politician pimps

It's hot, difficult to build on, and has hurricanes so not much industry in the past came here besides chemical plants. Lots of poor people and lots of black people that were never integrated properly.

Our most famous "export" is fried chicken. Of course, we are not going to innovate. Best we can do is bring in outside businesses.

SpaceX is the outlier because they wanted a specific location - not the population base.

Weather is miserable
Roads are terrible
Plants cause a ton of air pollution, helping contribute to Louisiana being 3rd in cancer rates
Good public schools are rare
Home insurance and car insurance rates amongst highest in country

LA sucks. It’s true. Go spend some time in many other places and you’d find out how much LA sucks. You can fly in to enjoy an LSU football game and LA food. The rest is absolutely worse than most of the rest of the country

Our population is full of criminals and culture that ruin much of it. It’s highly unsafe compared to most places. It’s always hot and sticky here and full of mosquitoes but with very little natural resources worth visiting/enjoying. Our cities are crap with bad traffic, low job prospects out of specific fields, and generally a lack of interesting things to do. The state itself also lacks a lot of growth prospects though a few recent investments by large companies may start to change that. Our schools suck big time and have little prospect to change significantly, though the education changes following Mississippi’s lead have a chance to be helpful with educating our poor population. Those changes won’t make the schools safer or a good option for most families though, so bend over for expensive private or parochial schools on top of the taxes you already pay for public schools you can’t use. And on the topic of taxes, LA has one of the highest overall tax rates compared to the crap services provided by the state and local governments. I can go on

You're making my point. The longer, more challenging route is to advance via innovation and research. Doesn't have to be silicon valley. It can be "fried chicken". But to that point, Canes had to relocate to satisfy its employment growth.

We still have an opportunity in industrial construction.

SpaceX, while massive. Is just another manufacturer. The technology will still be developed elsewhere.

I don't disagree, but are there any states where government hasn't dropped the ball?

Yeah I think blaming politicians is just low hanging fruit. Of course it’s a problem but I think it’s the demographics of this state. There is a certain group of people that I won’t name that will always prevent this state from progressing. You can invest all you want but they will turn it in to crime ridden hellhole. Like in football you can have the best coach in the world but if your players are not talented you won’t win.

Priorities. Louisianans spend more time planning for and worrying about sports, hunting, drinking, partying compared to healthcare, economy, schools, etc.

I only speak to my friends about football and cool shite. My Texas friends talk about their careers, real estate, and other dumb shite.

Poor education. Poor state financially. And people are set in their ways. Anytime anything progressive comes up, folks don't want to be inconvenienced and enjoy throwing negativity around (It'll never be done in time).

People don't vote. or they vote for a letter and not the person.

And this segways into my longstanding rant - this state needs 3 maybe 4 universities 1) Louisiana State University - true flagship for the state - includes medical, legal schools - most state funding needs to go here (not athletics) 2) Louisiana Tech University - primary university north of Alexandria 3) University of Louisiana Lafayette - serve the state’s most robust growth area of SWLA 4) maybe a presence in New Orleans Everything else becomes juco type feeder programs where the best students can end up in one of the 4 schools mentioned above OR transition to a trade type skill development.

Sure lets do away with the 3rd largest university by enrollment
