The people are okay, but yes the state reminds me of living in India: corrupt and 3rd world infrastructure/living conditions.

Nay, it starts at the bottom. Everyone is willing to grease a hand to get a parking spot, to get their picture on the front of the Latin Chamber of Commerce Mag, and that leads to grift, bribes, and all the other shite. Hondurans are corrupt as frick, and it's no wonder the largest population of Hondurans outside of Honduras are in New Orleans.
Blaming almost 2 centuries of Louisiana ineptness on Hondurans was not what I was expecting to be honest. Minorities? Absolutely, but this was surprising, even for this board

Once a culture of corruption takes hold, it's very difficult to break.
Much how Chicago has always been notoriously corrupt even compared to other large cities. It's a tough cycle to get out of.
And besides corruption the culture population is very high and that is a millstone around the neck of any city or state.

I like Louisiana and generally defend it on here but it's not the "elite" or "poor management". The people here are simply subpar compared to most places. Everything else is downstream of that.

The reason it sucks is because the money that should be invested into infrastructure, schools, and growing business here is miss allocated or outright stolen.
no, the people need to change

Failed leadership combined with government corruption year after year after year.
It’s always had politicians that only care about lining their pockets

All of the people or some of the people? You are going to have to be more specific.

the median Louisianan is a disaster

I agree, but how do you get the people to change. The average Louisianan absolutely hates change.

this
we are a state where most have very low expectations
many her too like the way things are
perfect example...Gov Landry goes off an secures largest investment in the states history in Space X....instead of people being excited, 30-40% of the population is accusing him of taking payouts, ruining a way of life, killing the coast etc
so many here just want to get their monthly check, go hunt or fish, live in a trashy arse trailer and thats it. they claim they want small government...they dont really, they want their check and they want to be left alone...no game warden or anyone telling them not to trash the environment
all you have to so is look at the video of the "Swamp Queen" Liz to see exactly what I am talking about.
its not even a not in my backyard kind of deal either...its really a citizens against fricking everything type attitude towards every project.
they also are against all tax breaks for any business because they dont understand them and how they make the state competitive and then they blame all the issues with schools on that. when spending is not the issue...
we consistently spend more than most southern states on a per student basis, yet we get worse results. at some point we have to look at the culture...especially at the lower end of the socioeconomic ladder

You are considering the extreme outliers in the median. Be specific in who you are including in that number.

He’s made his point abundantly clear. You can disagree with it, but this post is retarded

It actually does suck.
It’s the people.
People talk about the great people. I’ve experienced that throughout my life but it was the exception. The great people are truly great.
The run of the mill person in Louisiana is just not so bright. They typically work a shite job, they have opinions informed by their shite family, who has had their opinions formed by their shite family, so on and so on. They have their identity rooted in being from Louisiana which is……weird.
The culture of Louisiana is fricked. That thing that everyone loves is awesome for partying. But it generally knocks people and their potential way down. Education is not a priority. Parks and beautification of the environment (which has a marked effect on people’s open mindedness) are not a priority.
If that’s how people want to be that’s totally okay, and I mean that. But it’s not for me. And it’s not for most people that eventually mature.
You can have a great life in Louisiana, but you will be the exception, not the norm.

Has he now, or is he afraid to be more specific? Is he saying there is certain group of people that is dragging the state down? If so say so.

Rural white people are just as much of an issue in Louisiana as any other demographic.
Posted on 10/7/26 at 9:43 am to Odysseus32
not even just rural. the whites of the towns around Baton Rouge and New Orleans tend to be very trashy too. I don't know if I'd say "just as much of an issue" though.

Places where public education is not supported/valued suffer. People will cackle and laugh here but it's true. Look at surrounding states with strong public education in comparison.
Sadly, Arkansas has decided to go the same route with vouchers and will look more like Lousiana soon.

Yes, he is, stupid people. Clearly of which you apply

We bitch and complain that we have no industry and then when we have an industry want to move in, some assholes will find a way to run them off.
Our government had to take the NDA route to get businesses to come and then residents still through fits because they weren’t informed.
We don’t have a loop in Baton Rouge because of the “not in my backyard” people fought it for decades. Hell, Shreveport and Lake Charles has a loop and traffic runs smoothly, most of the time.
Shreveport, 50 cent buys a ton of property but politicians and residents are running him off because apparently, having an apparently having an abandoned building is better than someone fixing it up.
Basically, Louisiana sucks because we do it to ourselves and get in our own way
