Louisiana is your fun family member who’s always down for fun and is the life of the party. However, no one should take financial advice from them and they make shitty life decisions

Only place on the planet, for that matter! So frick off and go bow to your soon to be overtakers! Dont come running to the swamp when Texas goes blue!!!
The grammar and spelling, man. You would have benefited from a well funded Texas education.

I do appreciate the correct capitalization of proper noun “Dune Coon” though.

Huey Long sold the state down the river back in the day. We only get a fraction of the oil revenues that Texas and Alaska get from the federal government. We should be one of the richest states in the union, yet we are one of the poorest. Seems like we've always had crooked, corrupt politicians - out for themselves instead of the "greater good of the people". It's a shame, because we are some of the nicest most genuine folks in the entire country. It is what it is.

As someone who has let contracts for the government and private business in this state, Louisiana loves handouts.
The businesses are as corrupt as the government.
It’s not just “Baton Rouge” or “New Orleans”. The worst offenders are these small town police juries.
I personally look forward to watching Big City SpaceX play ball with these bunch of inbreds in South Louisiana.

Hmmm, let's see. Super majority Republicans in the House. Super majority Republicans in the Senate. Republican Governor, Lt. Governor, Secretary of State, Attorney General, Commissioner of Insurance, and Commissioner of Agriculture. Both U.S. Senators are Republicans. After this next election, five of the six members of Congress will be Republicans. Three of the five members of the Public Service Commission are Republicans. Four of the seven Justices on the Supreme Court are Republicans. Nope, can't figure out why Louisiana is on the bottom of so many lists. A complete mystery.
Yeah, it’s the Dems. Lmao

And the people just took it. Because the good people of Louisiana have been getting screwed by their politicians since Reconstruction.
Dey gotta see dey mom and dem every week, and live that culture baw. Dere is no hunting 'er fishin or cookouts or boils anywhere else.
Totally worth decades of wage growth that is outpaced by nearly every other state in the South.

oh where do we start
30/40 years ago the infrastructure and roads should have been prioritized and never were, the current roads are not equipped to handle the traffic inside the city compounded by the traffic in the corridor from Lake Charles to Baton Rouge
you have lawyers that love the status quo because it's a vehicle death trap which has caused drivers insurance to be ridiculously high compared to other states
public transportation is non existent
you had a crook in Edwin Edwards that was a laughingstock for this state
you had a governor in Jindal that wanted to make major reforms but couldn't - for example, Louisiana does not need all the colleges and universities the state supports, imagine if LSU was funded appropriately by closing the NW State, McNeese St, SLU, etc
for business pro governors and politicians you would go back and forth to incompetent ones like Blanco and Jon Bel Edwards who were not pro business
You have a city in New Orleans that has been so corrupt at City Hall that they can't get out of their own way
doesn't seem to be a lot of pull in the same direction from different parts of the state either - North LA and South LA are so different in every regard
crime is terrible in the two places you need stability in Baton Rouge and New Orleans
schools have come a long way but have been so bad for so long even incremental steps are hard to achieve
and climate wise, the flooding and storms wreak havoc and insurance costs are not sustainable

When Gordon McKernan is hanging out at the Governor’s Mansion discussing how much money he can spend on the LSU roster, do you think Landry is sharing this same sentiment with him about how he has ruined the state?

I’m an LSU grad and I truly believe one of my professors, Dr. Richard White, nailed the answer to this question. Dr. White was military and lived all over the country, but mostly Virginia. He chose to come to LSU because he was intrigued by Huey Long. One time I went to his office and he was in the middle of writing a novel about Huey Long, which I later read and I consider one of the best. It’s simply titled “Kingfish” by Dr. Richard White. Check it out. It’s a great read.
He told me the answer to this question is the people of Louisiana’s DNA. The other 49 states are descended from the old American adage of “fear the King.” A revolution was fought and we became our country because we did not want to be ruled by a King. Louisiana, on the other hand, is descended from French people who “loved their King”.
It’s all leadership. We’ve never had a smart person as our governor. Louisiana folks love their king. Thats why we are 50th.

South of I-10, everything is built on top of mud, not bedrock. This is expensive to maintain. Every few years a hurricane blows in and does millions in damage. We pay more than a lot of places, just to maintain infrastructure, and a lot more than those places trying to rebuild infrastructure. Basically once every generation, we're just trying to get made whole. Forget about advancing.
Florida is built entirely on sand with likely even less elevation than Louisiana…that state is run very well and many of their roads prove it
