where we generally work M-F and have Sat-Sun off. Seems like we have this shite backwards to me. The work week should be Sat-Sun and we should have off M-F. All I do is work for the most part. Life shouldn't be mostly about working all the damn time. The focus should be on family, friends, building relationships, having fun. No one on their deathbed wishes they would've spent more time at work. I'm now 40 years old and I've been working since I was 15 and haven't stopped. I have about 27 more years of this shite. I'm tired of this damn rat race.

I would love to only work 40 hours in the week and have every weekend off. I’ve worked between 60 to 80 hours per week with about 4 days off per month now going on 6 years.

Start your own business.

You'll work 24/7 and the 40 hour work week will feel like a breeze.

Quit your whining dude. You think life is rough now, learn some history.

In 1890, the US government began tracking workers' hours. The average workweek for full-time manufacturing employees was a whopping 100 hours.

And that was REAL work. Not staring at a computer screen in your climate controlled office, sitting in an ergonomically designed chair, sipping a latte.

pussification of America continues.

Well, as most jobs in the US are service industries, there needs to be some societal norms for what is expected.

Sounds like you need to plan and manage your money better. There is no fricking way I am working till my full retirement at 67.

I do get weekends off but I work 60-80 hours per.

I would like to say I'd love to pull a 40 hour week, but I'm not really sure I'd know what to do with myself.

40/168 is less than 25% of your life. Quit being a hyperbolic, drama queen

It's this type of mindset that's truly baffling. We've all got one life to live and will spend a vast majority of it working.

It's pretty fricked up that society would consider a future of job automation to be a bad thing for the people.

Like most people, the only reason I plan on working until 67 is because of health care. Money wise I would be fine without health care eating up most of what I've saved.

And eight hours of sleep per night is 56 hours a week, rounding up to a solid 96/168 (57%) of your adult life spent either working or unconscious.
