Find a job that is based on production rather that a time clock. And honestly, the vast majority of office jobs these days should not require your physical presence in the office. I was actually reading an article recently related to how many more people each year are not required to work specified hours and their work product and satisfaction with their jobs has increased.
I'm an attorney, and outside of going to Court I would say about half of my work is done in the office and half is done remotely from home (and honestly even more would be done from home if I were to buy a printer). With technology these days and the ability to remotely log in to networks from anywhere, forcing people to work from an on-site office seems like something that will be outdated in 10 years.
Granted, I work more than 40 hours a week, but it's a lot easier to do that when you can do your work on your own time. My wife works remotely as well 100% of the time from home. When we relocated for my job, she kept her same job and just does everything from home.

In the last 30-40 years we've increased the efficiency of working and ability to complete work quickly hundreds and hundreds of times what it used to be and yet our hours and vacations have remained the same. It's just hard to buck a dieing and archaic system run by a bunch of old fricks. But it'll happen.

Pretty sure it was Henry Ford. He wanted his employees to have something to look forward to and help keep up their spirits working on the line.

her job doesn't require one. My office is also 5 minutes from where we live, so it's really not that much of a burden for me to run to the office if I need something printed out.

I had this conversation with my wife the other day. What kinda buffoon decided that we should work 5 out of the 7 days of the week? At worst it should be 4 of 7
