The wife and I have discussed moving in our retirement, but we like that we live where all 4 seasons occur.
Wife and I both born & raised in Southern California, retired to Az. 60 years ago I truly believe everyone would have loved it there. Now not so much.
We have 2 seasons in Arizona, HOT and not quite as hot.

Born in Jefferson Louisiana (original ochsner). Have lived in parts of Florida for 22 years. I’d live many places I’ve been/traveled to but back to Louisiana isn’t one of them.

Most people don’t move to far from where they were born because of family connections. And if they do move many go back home eventually.
I personally think Louisiana sucks balls. The weather is awful, the government is awful. The schools are garbage and there is a high crime rate. About the only thing we have going for us is the food.
That being said I’ll never leave because this is where my family is and that’s more important to me than have 4 seasons.

We have a strong (even though diverse) culture that outsiders can't or won't relate to. Whether black, white, or other, Louisiana's culture holds its own.
Well no wonder you like going to Canada and the Caribbean. Nova Scotia French and Haitians are the predominant Redbone/Yellowbone cajun bloodlines in Louisiana
